Job Description

A RSW can work either day or wake in night shifts, but these enclosed tasks primarily pertain to day-time responsibilities. Our shift patterns are currently 12-hour shifts covering the 24-hour day.

  • Engage with children who will have Emotional Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), by providing a safe and stable home environment. Chair and minute meetings at agreed intervals.
  • Assist in the household management of our home, which will include cleaning/reporting repairs, preparing meals and other domestic cleaning duties as and when required.
  • Monitor and safeguard children when in the community and notifying the responsible adults in the event of any concerns (Police / Social Workers).
  • Work in partnership with children, their families, peers, advocates and other multi-agency professionals associated with them.
  • Work professionally within the guidelines of policies, procedures, aims, objectives
and the philosophy of the company with all colleagues.
  • Using our handover system; check that tasks allocated to the previous staffs shift have been completed, including carrying out audits / inspections.
  • Facilitate the distribution of childrens allowances, via their weekly planners and provision of finances, and participate in activities with them based upon their needs.
  • To have / be willing to undertake an NVQ level 3 in residential childcare (on condition
that you remain with company for 1 year after completion or repay the fee for the coursewhen leaving).
  • Lead and facilitate Health & Safety checks based upon need / concern.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Offices, and keep all processes up to date via electronic documenting.
  • Reporting - Possess clear communication skills and the ability to write (willingness to learn how to write) concise reports concerning residents at the appropriate level of detail and other company business.
  • Be a team player, providing person centred support, and Anti-discriminatory practice.
  • Attend and contribute to all team discussions, training / meetings, clinical / monthly supervision, and appraisals as and when required.
  • Reliable, flexible with an ability to demonstrate empathy and self-motivation.
