Job Description

Are you ready to take the next step in your career as an IT Service Desk TechnicianWe are looking for an IT Service Desk Technician to add to our dynamic IT department at NETBuilder.IT Service Desk TechnicianBromsgrove B60Office-based with opportunities for remote working and travel37.5 hours per weekSalary £18 - £23k depending on experience NETbuilders Education IT Division provides technical support for a large number of schools and businesses in Worcestershire and the surrounding counties. We are committed to providing first class support across a number of IT areas.In fact, we keep up to date with the latest initiatives and relevant technological developments and continually revise our services to meet local and national requirements.As an IT Service Desk Technician, youll be working with the Technical Services department to monitor and maintain the computer systems and networks within multiple organisations.As an IT Service Desk Technician, you will be:

  • Providing comprehensive professional IT support to customers with a focus on educational establishments.
  • Providing a professional, courteous and rapid response to individual customers.
  • Ensuring that support queries are promptly dealt with.
  • Resolving IT problems and escalating as necessary.
  • Providing excellent service.
  • Assisting and undertaking project-based work for the IT Team and other internal departments during school holiday time.
  • Providing technical support to customers for Windows client and server operating system.
  • Providing remote support on WAN and LAN and associated equipment.
  • Providing remote support on firewalls including WatchGuard, SmoothWall and pfSense.
  • Providing remote support for PC hardware, software and associated peripherals.
  • Remotely installing and configuring operating systems and software to agreed standards.
  • Deploying and maintaining servers, workstations and peripherals to agreed standards.
  • Assisting in the compilation of technical documentation, guidelines and procedures.
  • Liaising with colleagues to ensure quality of service for all customers.
The ideal IT Service Desk Technician will:
  • Be educated to A-Level standard or higher from an accredited higher education establishment within a technical/IT discipline.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years work experience in a service desk role and using a ticket logging system with demonstrable experience of providing telephone support.
  • Be experienced in an educational IT support role.
  • Have demonstrable experience in troubleshooting networked PCs.
  • Have excellent written and verbal customer service skills.
  • Be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have experience in recording data and maintaining records (including backups and logs).
  • Be able to work cooperatively with a broad range of internal and external contacts.
  • Be willing to learn and articulate software-related and technical concepts.
  • Be able to travel to various locations within the county of Worcestershire and to surrounding counties during school holiday time.
Additional Technological RequirementsMandatory: Knowledge of Windows operating systems including Windows 10, Server 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2019 editions. Knowledge of WAN and LAN technologies Good practical experience with Microsoft Office and other office-based applications, including Excel to an intermediate level. Good technical understanding of Internet connectivity and broadband networking Good understanding of email technology (SMTP, Office 365, Exchange) A good understanding of Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange, Office 365 and other email systems.
