Job Description

Activities Lead - Permanent Contract£24,000 - £26,000 per annum, 40 hours per weekKYN BICKLEY, Bickley Park Rd, Bromley BR1 2AZAbout KYNKYN is a brand-new care home company focused on offering an elevated approach to care: Individualised journeys built around the needs and interests of our residents in beautiful surroundings with life-enriching practices.KYN BICKLEY is our first care home opening in January 2023. Located in Bromley, KYN BICKLEY is an 86-bedroom home offering each resident an elegant and comfortable bedroom, communal areas for dining and reclining; and inviting outdoor terraces overlookinglandscaped gardens bordered by woodland. We have a further three care homes in development in London.We are passionate about our people; we seek out those who have a true vocation for care or hospitality and hold integrity dear to their hearts.About the opportunity:As Activities Lead, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Deputy Manager and the KYN Bickley team, in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere and consistently delivering an exceptional experience for our residents and their families
  • Planning and researching a broad and diverse range of individualised and group activities, events and experiences to enhance the wellbeing, physical and mental health of residents, ensuring that every KYN residents needs are exceeded
  • Working with the Head of Life Enrichment and Wellbeing to deliver a calendar of events that offers a variety of seasonal, interesting and enriching activities, encompassing arts, music, movement, community, culture, nature and more, including trips outof the home too both locally and further afield when desired
  • Developing a listening and caring relationship with residents, providing conversation, companionship and support, and fully understanding their individual needs, favourite pastimes and interests
  • Sourcing resident focused activities, partnerships, suppliers and events, and negotiating agreements and costs
  • Working with the Head of Dementia to carefully select activities that specifically suit the complex requirement of our residents living with dementia and support their memory care
  • Keeping up to date on all required relevant regulatory/statutory legislation, KYN policy and procedure and best practice guidance, ensuring that any changes are cascaded and understood by all suppliers
  • Creating and following risk assessments for each activity, and each individual, ensuring the safety of residents is paramount
  • Acting as a brand ambassador who demonstrates and leads the KYN values
About you:
  • You will have imagination and structure, as well as strong planning and organisation skills
  • You will be a professional, who has a proven track record of creating, designing and organising events that stimulate and engage
  • You will be a confident individual with a hands-on approach who will lead, motivate and inspire the team
  • You will be an effective team player who builds professional and trusting relationships with every member of the team, ensuring they feel valued
  • You will be patient with the ability to deal with difficult situations with tact and diplomacy
  • You will have excellent attention to detail and an ability to anticipate problems before they arise
  • You will be a compassionate, empathetic, kind, and caring individual
  • You will have experience of developing relationships, with a wide range of suppliers, along with the ability to negotiate effectively to ensure maximum value and experience for residents
  • You will be able to demonstrate a flexible attitude to working arrangements as some weekend work will be required
Desirable:
  • You will have knowledge of the industry and sector, including competitor awareness, current trends and challenges
  • You will have previous experience in a line management position with proven ability to manage, develop, motivate and supervise others to deliver excellent customer services and experiences
