Job Description

The Developer’s role is to produce working software for users.Developers regularly interact with the rest of the team and with users to ensure strong transfer of knowledge whilst making use of supporting tools and processes as they see fit.Whilst some time is spent keeping models of the developed system up to date, the primary measure of success is delivery of working software.A Developer collaborates with other Developers, business analysts, testers and users etc. to deliver the most effective solution efficiently as possible whilst remembering the original scope of requirement that triggered the development in the first place.A Developer responds rapidly to changing requirements, changing circumstances and new problems or opportunities.The role and responsibilies of a Full Stack .NET Developer

  • Delivering working software
  • Regularly implementing new software releases into the Live environment on time
  • Analysing the scoped requirements and assessing impact on current systems
  • Assessing solution options (including the decision to re-use, build or buy), working with Business Analysts and customer as necessary to agree the best fit option
  • Estimating the size of a given piece of work (e.g. relative to other work)
  • Working as closely as possible with business analysts, testers, other Developers and users i.e. discussing problems rather than exchanging documents
  • Liaising with customer IT stakeholders regarding development & design issues
  • Conducting proofs-of-concept as necessary to confirm the feasibility of a target solution
  • Helping preserve continuity of live service for users by taking into account previously received levels of performance and service level agreements when designing solutions
  • Documenting design specifications for high risk components (e.g. external interfaces) and obtaining necessary approvals (e.g. client stakeholders)
  • Agreeing scope and changes to scope with customers and/or business analysts
  • Fulfilling the requirements defined by the scope
  • Ensuring the delivered solution will be fully operable and supportable in the target live environment i.e. its operation is scalable from a technical and people perspective
  • Branding look and feel of IT systems and/or collaborating with AdviserPlus colleagues and 3rd parties to achieve the same end
  • Producing models of systems that are just sufficient to facilitate knowledge transfer and working discussions without incurring unnecessary overheads
  • Updating models in a timely fashion without delaying delivery of working software
  • Engaging other team members as necessary to deliver working software as quickly as possible
  • Conducting unit testing
  • Undertaking code reviews and ensuring their own code is reviewed
  • Automating testing e.g. overnight regression tests
  • Automating software build and deployment e.g. nightly builds, one-click deployment to live
  • Supporting wider testing activity e.g. running data-setup scripts
  • Addressing defects identified by testers and users in delivered software
  • Addressing outstanding defects in the live IT system as opportunities arise
  • Ensuring the integrity of solutions is maintained by adhering to configuration management rules and processes
  • To lead members of the team as necessary e.g. where multiple streams of development require coordinating in order to implement a complex release on time.
