We are looking for great people to join us, so please come and invest in YOUR future at HL.As a Windows Support Engineer, you will be working in the Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure Support Team and will be responsible for supporting the Windows platforms and services for our Client Facing Infrastructure.About the role

  • Working as part of a team of high performing technology specialists, accountable for technical leadership across all client facing servers in our hybrid cloud data centres
  • Supporting the Enterprise technologies that provide Mission Critical services to our internal business and customer facing systems including participation in the on call rota
  • Primary support of the Microsoft servers that provide Mission Critical services to all client facing systems, providing them as a service to other IT teams
  • Secondary support of the Centos and Red Hat Linux estate, as supported by the wider team. Current Linux skills not essential
  • Providing technical feedback, on Infrastructure strategies, aligned with business objectives across all technologies in scope for this team
  • Operating processes to ensure performance, capacity and availability are managed effectively
As a Windows Support Engineer, within your SME technology remit, you will be responsible for:
  • Being the technical escalation point for Incident/ Major Incident and Problem Management
  • The ongoing management and optimisation of monitoring and alerting services
  • Technical approval for Change Management procedures to support impact analysis and provide governance on changes requested by the team
  • Creating and owning components of the technology roadmap and infrastructure architecture strategy
  • Creating and managing Technical IT documentation, including standards, policies and processes
What youll be doing
  • Work collaboratively to deliver projects in a timely and organised manner
  • Seek innovative solutions, improvements, enhancements and automation wherever possible
  • Troubleshooting of failures and responding to security incidents
  • Occasional out of hours work for updates, incidents and fixes is expected and remunerated
  • Monitor and manage the escalations queue to ensure service requests and incidents across the Microsoft estate are dealt with in a timely manner
About youDesirable experience
  • Experience working in an Enterprise environment supporting Microsoft Technologies
  • Active Directory administration
  • System monitoring e.g. Sentinel, Opsview, Nagios
  • Experience of working with mission critical infrastructure
  • Working in a change control environment
  • Technical Documentation
  • Experience of managing risk
Desirable knowledge
  • Active Directory
  • Scripting languages such as PowerShell
  • VMWare administration and support
