Job Description

Wellbeing Coach (Exercise on Referral Instructor), Charity, Community Health and Wellbeing, £21,095 - £25,210 pro rata + benefits including 33 days holiday (including bank holidays) + pension + free on-site gym membership. Full-time or Part-time.The Role: This is a fantastic opportunity for a fitness professional (Fitness Instructor, Gym Instructor, Personal Trainer etc.) who is passionate about health and wellbeing and has a genuine belief that health is the key to strong communitiesand that fitness opportunities should be accessible to everyone. The Wellbeing Coach will be responsible for delivering the exercise on referral scheme, working to develop the health and well-being of members of the community, through coordinating and deliveringgroup and individual exercise sessions, for people who have been referred to the facility by local GP practices. Reporting to the Health and Well-being Manager you will join a dynamic team of instructors, freelancers and personal trainers, dedicated to thehealth of the community.Working hours: We are happy to consider candidates for the Wellbeing Coach (Exercise on Referral Instructor) on either a full-time or part-time basis (15-35 hours per week). The facilities are located in Bristol, BS10 and are open evenings and weekends, so flexibility to work outside of standard office hours is necessary.The Charity: Southmead Development Trust is one of Bristols leading, independent, community led organisations. It is a multi-purpose charity providing much needed services for all ages and ethnicities and is made up of staff, volunteersand residents, working together to achieve a thriving community, improving health, wellbeing, local pride, and employment and bringing business and investment to the area. Their three sites (Greenway Centre, Southmead Youth Centre and Southmead Adventure Playground)are much-loved local venues that provide inspiring spaces for a wide variety of experiences, including sporting events, local groups, festivals and much more, where customers enjoy a fun, welcoming community with a large caf and newly refurbished gym.Wellbeing Coach - Exercise on Referral Instructor (Fitness Instructor, Gym Instructor, Personal Trainer, Community Health and Wellbeing professional etc.),Responsibilities include: Assist with delivering the exercise on referral scheme to include phone calls, attendance monitoring and all related admin.

  • Conduct initial consultations and all necessary reviews with referred clients.
  • Deliver gym inductions and personal training and write up exercise plans for members.
  • Coordinate, plan and teach a range of classes with the aim of increasing the centres usage amongst the local community and further afield.
  • Provide a holistic service to clients who complete the scheme, supporting with next steps etc.
  • Work to deliver an exceptional customer experience, providing personal attention and care to all members and exceeding their expectations on a daily basis.
  • Ensure fitness facilities are well maintained at all times.
  • Be involved in fulfilling the wider vision of Southmead Development Trust.
Wellbeing Coach - Exercise on Referral Instructor (Fitness Instructor, Gym Instructor, Personal Trainer, Community Health and Wellbeing professional etc.), Skills and Experience required:
  • An experienced Personal Trainer, used to working with people on a 121 basis but also in a group setting.
  • A proven track record of facilitating and teaching exercise sessions - ideally with an Exercise Referral qualification, although training for this and the additional Staying Steady and Escape Pain qualifications can be provided if necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with a diverse client base and adapt teaching style accordingly.
  • Empathetic and compassionate with excellent customer service skills.
  • Good organisation skills with an ability to work independently and proactively to plan and organise 1-1 and group work.
  • Passionate about health and well-being and serving the community.
