Job Description

As a Team Manager you will provide support, recognition, guidance, and professional oversight to team members within your practice area.What willyou be doing The Locality model promotes collaborative working with our Early Help, Health and Education colleagues and our Locality teams are based within 3 communities across South Gloucestershire - Patchway (North), Yate (Central) and Kingswood (South).Inlocalities, Social Workers and Managers get to know their children, young people, and families, along with the communities within which they live, and the partner agencies that are also able to offer support and intervention.Our approach to working with children,young people and families is strengths based. As a Team Manager in Locality Services, you will: support our Social Workers to build relationships, undertake assessments, develop plans and deliver purposeful evidence-based interventions to secure the best outcomesfor children in need of support, protection and care be an adaptive and responsive manager, combining a hybrid model of remote and office-based working with face-to-face management (where essential and secure) to meet team and wider service objectives, maintaina focus on the individuals in your team, promoting personal and professional development through the pathways and programmes offered by our Childrens Services have the support, guidance and supervision of an experienced and accessible senior leadership teamWhatwe need from you You will be a qualified social worker and have relevant post qualifying experience of statutory social work including work with children in need, those subject to child protection plans and intervention through the Public Law Outline. Youwill be registered with Social Work England. You will have managerial and supervisory experience. You will be able to evidence your ability to lead teams to achieve optimum performance in delivering excellent social care services for children, young peopleand families. You will have evidence of on-going continuous professional development and a thorough knowledge of current research, legislation and practice relating to children and young peoples services.Please note that due to the nature of this role itis a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.How a career at South Gloucestershire Council is different We invest in the careers of our people and we are recognised for the quality, breadthand depth of our training and development offer, which helps our people make the greatest long-term difference in their work. We have invested in the technology and support to enable staff to work seamlessly from home so we canensure we are keeping staff safe during Covid-19. For those staff who may need to work in the office we have also ensured that our offices and hubs are Covid secure; and have measures in place such as one way systems, socially distanced work stations and handsanitizer stations throughout our premises. We are currently working remotely, but the usual place of work for these teams is Patchway Hub, Yate, as we provide a service to our customers from the council offices. It is expected that you will return to theusual place of work in line with governmental guidance and local council policy in the future.
