Job Description

Intelligent Resource Recruitment is working in partnership with a major Client in the UK. We are currently recruiting for a System Developer role to be Remote based outJob Title: System DeveloperLocation: Bristol-HybridJob Type: PermanentDescription:Develop and deliver innovative, properly engineered, and integrated information systems services (including bespoke, packaged solutions, SaaS and enhancements) that meet users requirements and further enhance the effective operation of the University byproviding better tools to support process and deliver improved information access.Essential

  • Experience of developing and supporting applications using Perl, Python, SQL*Plus, PL/SQL, Oracle views.
  • Experience of supporting applications using Oracle or SQL Server databases.
  • Good knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Supporting applications on Unix and/or Windows platforms, including the installation, patching, and upgrading of applications.
  • Experience of adhering to development and operational standards, methodologies, and good practices.
  • Demonstrably well-informed on technological advances and relevant current affairs topics.
  • Experience in all aspects of IT service delivery and service management.
  • Experience working in a structured project-based environment.
Desirable
  • Experience of using Puppet would be useful.
  • Experience of using build, CI and deployment tools.
  • Experience of Bash or other Unix shell scripting.
  • Experience of Django.
  • Experience of modern development practices such as test-driven development and pair programming.
  • Exposure to working within a DevOps culture.
  • Experience of Continuous Integration (CI) and other automation tools.
  • Exposure to working in agile teams using a methodology such as Scrum, Kanban, or XP.
Relevant Qualifications
  • Qualified to Degree / HND level in a relevant subject (or equivalent experience and training) with substantial industry experience.
  • A demonstrable working knowledge of ITIL or equivalent.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • Working both as a team member and autonomously.
  • When there are service issues, demonstrates in relations with the service supplier the requisite diplomacy, persuasiveness and negotiating skills to maintain relationships whilst achieving successful issue resolution.
  • Possess good time management skills i.e., prioritisation; managing a heavy workload; managing expectation and timely delivery to staff and customers.
  • Model positive and professional personal attributes, such as: - excellent analysis and problem-solving skills; creativity and innovation; aptitude for rapid learning and embracing new responsibilities and change; motivation and passion for subject matter;helpful and professional communication on all levels of technical ability.
