Job Description

SQL DBA required by our market leading, award winning, professional services organisation. The SQL DBA will join our clients IT Infrastructure Team and will be primarily responsible for managing and maintaining all SQL and database environmentsensuring that systems are working in an optimal manner and assisting in the delivery of all IT infrastructure where required.Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage and maintain all SQL and database environments ensuring that systems are working in an optimal manner.
  • Setup maintenance tasks including database integrity along with database index optimisation to ensure excellent performance.
  • Provide support and assist the development team with complex SQL query tuning and schema refinement.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities outside of standard business hours.
  • Undertaking operational tasks to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all IT services.
  • Working with the PMO, project teams and other team members to plan, test, implement technical requirements for all IT elements of projects.
  • Provide technical support to the 3rd-line team and acting as an escalation point for issues that require a greater in-depth knowledge to resolve them.
Required Background:
  • Minimum 5 years MS SQL Server Administration experience.
  • The implementation, management, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of critical SQL Server 2012, 2016 & 2017 RDBMS systems, ensuring the availability and consistent performance of our clients applications.
  • Working knowledge of MS failover clustering.
  • Pro-active monitoring & performance tuning using customised SQL scripts, Dynamic Management Views (DMV) and use of dedicated monitoring tool Redgate SQL Monitor.
  • SSRS, SQL Stored Procedures and SSIS to include SSIS Catalog integration, deployment, execution and management.
  • SQL Backup, Index Optimization, Database Integrity and other maintenance skills including SQL server patching across all SQL servers.
  • Current Microsoft SQL qualification: Administering Microsoft SQL Server 2012/2016/2017 or equivalent working experience.
  • Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory
  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Ability to organize and plan work independently

This fantastic role comes with a basic salary of £45,000-55,000 p/a and on top of the bespoke training package, comes with the following benefits: Remote working (Occasional days onsite in Bristol), annual salary review, 25 days holiday (which will increaseto 30 days based upon length of service), private medical insurance, pension and many more. This will include a bonus scheme which is being introduced in the Summer.
