With a strong portfolio of work including many high-profile infrastructure projects both nationally and internationally, our team is expanding, and we are looking to recruit a range of new team members.We are looking for a numerate and enthusiastic problem solver with proven skills in research, software development and modelling, together with good written and oral communication abilities. You will primarily be working on a range of flood and water projects researching methods and developing and applying software to help solve the tough challenges that our clients face.You will be joining the No.1 deliverer of flood risk management services in the UK, working as part of an integrated, forward thinking and highly skilled team with the opportunity to learn from and assist key industry experts.• Collating, refining and helping to prioritise requirements• Assessing options and recommending preferred approaches• Developing and implementing methods in software• Applying modelling software on projects• Working directly with internal and external clients• Seeking and implementing technical innovation• Taking ownership and responsibility for the quality of project work to meet the highest standardsQualificationsEssential:• BSc/BEng degree (or equivalent) in engineering, maths, science, computing or similar• Proven ability in research, preferably industrial research in the flood or water sectors.• Proven ability in Software development, with significant demonstrable knowledge in one or more of: C#, Python, Fortran, SQL, JavaScript, PHP.• Technical expertise in flood risk analysis, preferably including UK-standard flood modelling software (e.g. Flood Modeller, TUFLOW).• Demonstrable knowledge in Visualisation and GIS.Desirable:• MSc/PhD in relevant technical areas will be an advantage• Have good verbal skills when communicating with stakeholders including technical and non-technical parties - experience of delivering training is an advantage.• Be highly flexible and self-motivated towards improving team and personal performance.• Have a can-do attitude and can identify and deliver innovative solutions to difficult challenges.• Be skilled at collaborative working, with good interpersonal skills and able to communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders and colleagues.• Have the ability to produce high quality technical writing for bid and project work.• Be a flexible team player, able to work with different project teams both locally and across remote offices.• Commercial awareness and evidence of ability to deliver projects to time and budget.• Flexible approach to respond to changing market requirements and keen to learn and apply new skills.Our Culture At Jacobs we see safety differently - we strive to go BeyondZero’</s
