Job Description

Senior Development MangerMy client is a sustainable energy infrastructure company that connects consistent low-cost renewable generation with high value markets. The current project is developing 6 GW of solar PV and 3 GW of onshore wind, collocated with 15 GWh of Li-ion battery storage in Morocco, and a 3,200 km subsea cable to the UK. The project will provide 3 GW of firm generation to the UK during daily peak demand, and in total will generate 6% of the UKs electricity demand.The role is to develop the UK based infrastructure from the landing point of the subsea cable to the interface with National Grids transmission network. This will include securing the land rights and planning permission for underground cables and a 15-acre converter station at two location within the UK.Key activities:

  • Identify landowners and land interests along the onshore route
  • Working with consultants to ensure commercial viability of the onshore development and compatible with technical requirements
  • Pricing and pitching for sites
  • Securing options to buy land
  • Oversee planning application, including where necessary local consultations
  • Assist with the CPO/DCO process where required
  • Prepare and conform with a budget for the onshore development works
  • Key skills/experience
  • Client facing competencies with the ability to present and communicate at senior levels and across a range of stakeholders
  • Good listening skills with an aptitude for superior written and verbal communications
  • Exemplary administration skills with an ability to make sound and appropriate judgements
  • Experience securing land from private and commercial owners
  • Project management know-how with previous experience of taking planning projects through the stages from formation to finalisation
  • Outstanding research skills together with knowledge at Town and Country Planning Act and National Planning level
  • Experience with CPO/DCO applications
