Job Description

About the role The Release Manager will maintain the release schedule for all core services, managing the delivery plan and providing reporting to the leadership team. Youll manage risks and resolve any issues that affect release schedule and quality, minimising impactand company exposure. As part of the Product Operations team, the Release Manager collaborates across all aspects of Product & Technology.Key responsibilities include:

  • Communicating release details and schedules to the Business as required.
  • Planning and managing all release activities including Go/No Go activities.
  • Owning and coordinating Beta and Canary Ring phases.
  • Continually working towards making improvements in the release process.
  • Conducting release readiness reviews, milestone reviews, and reporting back to the leadership team.
  • Identifying impediments and blockers and working with teams to remove / resolve these.
  • Delivering according to Agile / DevOps principles.
  • Working with Product Managers and Engineering Leads to ensure timescales, budgetary and quality standards are met.
  • Managing relevant escalations and ensuring efficient communication.
  • Forward planning the release windows and cycles across the Portfolio.
  • Measuring and monitoring progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations.
  • Maintaining a release repository (Azure DevOps Wiki) and manage key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies and notification lists.
  • Working closely with the IT and Security teams to ensure consistency and clarity between the departments.
  • Maintaining the SDLC documentation.
  • Owning configuration of Azure DevOps (ADO) in line with the various release cadences across the products.
  • Coordinating with key departments and internal stakeholders to ensure a joined-up pipeline, capacity planning and sales planning.
  • Coordinating regular release retrospectives, and managing the actions output from the meetings.
Skills and experience required
  • Demonstrable previous experience (circa 3 years+) in release management role.
  • Solid understanding of Agile and Scrum principles and processes.
  • Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle.
  • Excellent ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
