Job Description

In this role as Regional HRBP, youll partner with a Regional Director, supporting one region (several hundred shops and a headcount of c1500 colleagues), to deliver the people plan that underpins the delivery of our retail strategy. Youll really be in thethick of it in this role, often being the first port of call for to day to day operational HR issues as they arise.Youll need to be comfortable working alone and travelling frequently across your region (which may include overnight stays) but you must also be a real team player. To be truly effective in this role, you will need to build great working relationships acrossthe business, from the regional field team to the Retail HR team and from regional employee forum reps to the HR centres of excellence. Key Requirements

  • Partner the Regional Director (RD) to develop the regional people plan and report back regularly on progress to the Head of HR
  • Provide coaching, counsel, support and technical expertise on all HR matters, effectively partnering the Regional Director and field management team
  • Ensure Area Manager selection, onboarding and development is managed in a fair, consistent and effective way
  • Continually monitor Area Manager capability and embed a performance management culture by holding the RD and ROMs to account for their performance
  • Provide training to Area Managers on specific HR/training projects
  • Coach Area Managers to carry out effective performance discussions and where appropriate, disciplinary/grievance matters
  • Lead on regional employee engagement activity e.g. engagement survey action planning, listening groups, employee forum meetings. Feedback findings to stakeholders and the Head of HR
  • Support the region with the development of their people, working closely with the L&D manager and regional trainer to identify training needs and ways to address them
  • Contribute to monthly regional team meetings, presenting HR agenda items as required
  • Use HR data to analyse trends and identify areas for improvement in the region
  • Consistency of approach - working closely with other regional BPs
  • Support the Head of HR and Regional Director to ensure the highest standards of CSR, D&I, Compliance, Regulatory and Legal Requirements are met in the region; ensuring our business operates to the highest possible standards
  • Work collaboratively with HR shared service (HRSS) and the HR centres of excellence to deliver an effective and efficient HR service to Retail
  • Represent Retail HRBP team on project teams to deliver business wide or retail specific HR projects, in addition to the day job, keeping Retail HR team updated on key milestones
  • Contribute to the planning and running of team meetings
  • Provide holiday and sickness cover to other Regions when required
  • Deputise for the Head of HR on occasion
Key Skills & EducationEssential:
  • A strong operator with experience of working in a field-based HR role
  • Solid relationship building and influencing skills with an ability to adapt style and approach as needed
  • Experience of partnering at director level
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Ability to plan, organise and multi-task
  • Calm under pressure with the ability to make sound judgement decisions
  • Ability to work effectively and respond to the demands of a fast paced, ever-changing environment
  • Sound HR technical knowledge with up to date knowledge of employment legislation
  • Demonstrable experience of working in an environment with high volume employee relations cases
  • Confidence to challenge the status quo and provide constructive feedback
Desirable:
  • Some Retail HR experience
  • Experience of working with HR shared service teams and other centres of excellence
