Job Description

Our Global Client has a thriving safety-critical software team providing consultancy and engineering services to a range of clients in industries such as Nuclear Power, Defence, Rail and Aerospace. Due to strong growth, particularly in the nuclear sector, they are looking to expand the nuclear team. The role is to lead the design of Control and Instrumentation systems solutions across Multiple clients. The systems are expected to have a significant programmable element and be used in a safety or security critical context. Job Function *Provision of cost-effective engineering design solutions and high-quality customer service*Ensure successful delivery of high-quality engineering works to time, quality, budget and customer satisfaction.*Perform end-to-end work related to safety critical C&I systems. This may include FEED, specification, high level and detailed design, coding, testing, installation and commissioning activities.*Experience of ding systems in high hazard industries.*Understanding of fault analysis and reliability assessments using recognized techniques such as FMEA, HAZID and HAZOP.*Engage with clients to understand technical needs and develop successful working relationships.*Providing advice and consultancy to clients on the design, implementation and substantiation of C&I systems.*Verification of peer and junior engineers C&I technical documentation.*Assist with technical input for proposals/tenders.*What you can bringEssential:*Proven years of experience in the industry*Capable of working on and leading diverse projects with minimal supervision*Knowledge and experience of a broad range of C&I equipment and its application in both conventional and safety related applications*Good knowledge of mechanical and process systems and how to control them*Experience of working in the nuclear industry or other highly regulated industries*Knowledge of nuclear sector standards applicable to the development of high integrity software-based protection and safety control systems (including BS EN 61513, BS EN 60880, BS EN 62138, BS EN 60987 and BS EN 61508)*Experience of the development of modern nuclear safety cases (including Production Excellence and Independent Confidence Building Measures aspects)*A good understanding of the safety lifecycle for C&I safety systems*Preferably educated to Degree level in a relevant engineering of scientific field*Chartered engineer status with a relevant professional body (or experience necessary to qualify for such).Desirable:*Previous Generic Design Assessment (GDA) for nuclear power plants in the UK is highly desirable.*Experience in liaising with the Office for Nuclear Regulation or other regulatory bodies.*Experience in application of ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable).*Safety case experience, including knowledge of the 2-legged safety case approach.*Experience in design, substantiation, verification & validation, safety justification of high integrity software-based protection and/or safety control systems.*Experience on nuclear new build projects.*Knowledge of PLC programming and system integration, SCADA configuration and software testing techniques and experience of installation and commissioning of PLC / SCADA systems.*Bid development experience.*Working knowledge of electrical systems.*AutoCAD Electrical experience.Principal Nuclear Safety EngineerBristol Competitive Salary + Benefits including Bonus, Flexible Working, Pension, Healthcare & MoreSafety Case Writing, Safety Assessment, Nuclear Regulations, Hazard Assessments, HAZID, HAZOP, Design Substantiation, Nuclear Decommissioning, Nuclear Human Factors, FMECAThis is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading engineering technology company, with access to an array of career development opportunities and a great benefits package.Due to the nature of work undertaken at our clients site, incumbents of these positions are required to meet special nationality rules and therefore these vacancies are only open to British Citizens.
