Job Description

Job Summary An opportunity has arisen for a proactive and collaborative Payroll Administrator working in our Financial Reporting department on a fixed term basis to support the Payroll team for a 6-month contract.Role OverviewThe Payroll Administrator will work with the two Group Payroll Managers to ensure that all individuals are paid accurately and on time each month. The successful candidate will cover both UK and international payrolls as well as the pensioner payroll.The role will have strong numerical skills and will operate with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. You will have excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach to successfully handle payroll-rated queries from the business.The role sits within the Finance department, but the job holder will work closely with the HR departments and third parties when carrying out the responsibilities of the role.What will you be doing Key job accountabilities include:

  • Assisting with processing UK payrolls to include checking incoming processing data from HR departments, running and checking of system reports, checking and uploading of P6, P9, SL1, SL2, PGL
  • Assisting with processing overseas payrolls to include communicating monthly changes to overseas local payroll providers
  • Managing payroll mailbox, responding to queries promptly, escalating queries to Group Payroll Manager as required.
  • Running GL and costing reports as part of reporting for monthly management accounts.
  • Assisting with tax year end and taxable benefit reporting to include preparing related employee comms and the Class 1a submission to HMRC
  • Preparing annual payroll processing timetables for all UK and overseas payrolls
About you: Successful applicants should demonstrate the following:
  • Previous experience of working in a payroll department within the UK
  • Good payroll technical knowledge e.g. Overtime, additional hours, allowances, starter/leaver processes
  • Understanding of HMRC payroll legislation e.g. SMP

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experienced user of Excel e.g. pivots, vlookups
