Job Description

Lexia Education Services, will be offering FREE Team Teach training to successful applicants.Lexia Education Services, are looking for a Mentor / Graduate Teaching Assistant, to work with a group of Secondary aged learners in need of additional support throughout the school day. Being a positive role model and mentor to these young learners is crucial.An interest in Music, Sport, Dance, Drama and the ability to be creative and engaging are particularly welcomed. You will be encouraging the positive emotional, social and academic development of the students, ensuring they remain engaged with their education.The hours are 8:30am-3:30pm Monday to Friday and 40p per mile can be claimed for your driving expenses.Essential skills include relationship building, the ability to engage young people, de-escalate challenging behaviours and support with classroom or outdoor based activities and tasks.This is a full-time and long term role starting immediately - for the full academic year. The role will most likely move into a Permanent opportunity too. As a Mentor / Graduate Teaching Assistant you must:

  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Have experience of supporting young people
  • Be resilient, patient and kind
  • Be comfortable working with challenging behaviour and be confident using de-escalation techniques with the young people
  • Safeguarding training within the last year (this can be provided)
