MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE FITTER/ENGINEERSalary: c£25-35,000 + Shift Allowance + Excellent BenefitsLocation: South BristolCommutable from: Commutable from: Nailsea, Clevedon, Bristol, Long Ashton, Congresbury, Yatton, Winscombe, Easton in Gordano, Paulton, Flax Bourton, Backwell, Chew Magna, PortisheadHow would you like to be a part of one of the UKs leading industrial manufacturing and processing businesses, part of a global plcOur client is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter/Engineer to maintain their fixed and mobile plant, machinery and processing equipment at one of their operational sites to ensure the supply of high-quality products to customers in the South West andWales area are met.You will be a part of the 24/7 engineering function at the site. You will be reporting to the Mechanical Shift Supervisor where youll be able to contribute to the preparation and development of safe working methods for repair procedures. You will also havea flexible, proactive, and hands-on approach to responding to plant breakdown, ensuring assets are returned to production in a timely manner and temporary fixes are followed up with a permanent solution.This role may involve travel to other locations to assist and therefore the job holder must possess a full UK driving licence.The role of Mechanical Maintenance Fitter would suit an individual who has great communication and problem-solving skills as well as someone who can work confidently and courteously within the team and on their own initiative.Key tasks and responsibilities* To maintain and promote Health & Safety rules and regulations, following all company processes and procedures. Including to challenge unsafe conditions and practices, reporting these through company procedures.* Ability to remove and fit bearings* Work with risk assessments and method statements* To undertake emergency breakdown repairs in a timely and efficient way on all production equipment.* To own small scale projects and to deliver in a pragmatic and proactive manner.* Coordinate with contractors and suppliers when they are on site* Participate in root cause analysis so repeat failures can be eliminated* Fully utilise the computerised maintenance management system and record all work including fault descriptions, spares used, and repairs carried out.The ideal candidate:* Educated to recognised apprenticeship in mechanical engineering or relevant engineering. ONC/HNC would be advantageous.* Strong mechanical background, heavy industry highly advantageous.* Good knowledge of mechanical systems, drives, motors, belts, pumps, crushers, conveyors, vibratory screens, and gearboxes* Computer literate* Able to work at height and confined spaces* Welding and Fabricating to a good standardIn return our client offers a competitive base salary plus excellent benefits.
