Job Description

Probate - Legal Assistant (Trainee)£20,000 - £22,000 DOEHybrid working: 3 days centra Bristol Office / 2 days home workingThe Company:Our client is a well-established probate specialist based in central Bristol, they are a growing organisation and have great staff moral and team spirit!The Job:As a Trainee Legal Assistant you will work as part of a growing team to process operational tasks in a timely and efficient manner whilst meeting and exceeding expectations in relation to quality standards. Dealing with probate it is imperative for you takeaway any unnecessary stress, anxiety, unexpected obstacles that families face during this difficult time and that you have an empathetic and caring approach to each and every customer.

  • Closing Files when the Estate Administration is complete
  • Dealing with queries on closed cases
  • Assisting with outgoing post in the absence of the office administrator
  • Chasing third parties for information pertaining to existing cases
  • Paying debts and expenses on estates
  • Writing cheques where appropriate
  • Obtaining income tax information
  • Dealing with enquiries from the Department of Work and Pensions
  • Making applications to the Probate Registry for Grants of Representation
  • Encash assets of an estate
  • Completion of relevant forms for third parties as and when required
  • Answering income calls from third parties
  • Preparing paperwork to distribute assets of an estate
  • Performing overseas bankruptcy searches
  • Requesting formal probate valuations
  • Completing overseas asset encashing and transferring paperwork as directed, and
under the supervision of, a Senior Estate Coordinator
  • Performing docusearches
  • Drafting and printing letters to potential beneficiaries
  • Undertaking genealogical searches such as birth, marriage and death as well as
searches for beneficiaries using address tracing
  • Taking ownership of some AGR 1 and AGR 2 files
  • Ordering and reviewing documents such as certificates and probate records and
  • updating Family Historian accordingly
  • Undertaking beneficiary interviews on own files and on behalf of SECs and TECs
The Person: Ideally, they are seeking a recent graduate or experienced administrator / case handler who would be interested in a career in probate who takes pride in their work, shows respect and empathy for the families, an individual who is approachable witha cheerful disposition and a professional attitude.Salary: £20,000 - £22,000 dependent on experience Location: Hybrid3 days central Bristol Office and 2 days home working (after training)Hours: 37.5 hours per weekShifts between 8am and 5.30pm (7.5 hours per day)Benefits: Excellent holiday entitlement, income protection, death in service, company pension, health cash plan, season ticket loan, cycle to work scheme, childcare vouchers.
