Job Description

ROLE- Junior / Senior or Lead - Optical Research and Development EngineerMultiple positions available LOCATION- Bristol (Relocation package available)TERM- PermanentSalary£30,00065,000My client works within Engineering sector, ElectronicsOptical DesignThe Optical Research and Development Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

  • Background in optical systems,
  • Ideally experience in DAS, DTS, DSTS, coherent comms or similar
  • Familiarity with digital signal processing techniques used in optical sensing
  • Experience in Matlab, C, C++ or other high-level language
  • Optical fibre Fusion Splicing
  • Electronics, assembly design and debug
The Optical Research and Development Engineer role will involve:
  • Theoretical investigations of new distributed optical sensing ideas
  • Numerical simulation of concept optical systems and signal processing schemes
  • Design, commissioning and performance of laboratory-based experiments and investigation of novel distributed optical sensing methods
  • Design, commissioning of field demonstrable test prototypes
  • Documentation of work
  • Patenting of novel ideas
