Very friendly, fast paced working environment, with a strong focus on working together as a team.Benefits include 25 days holiday + Bank holidays, private health insurance, company pension etc. The culture is very friendly, sociable and an enjoyable team to be part of.The salary on offer is £40,000 - £50,000 (depending on experience) plus £5,500 car allowance.The RoleHealth and Safety AdvisorResponsibilities:Reporting to the company Health & Safety Manager, the Health and Safety Advisor will be responsible for the following:- A split site-based and office base role, including occasional nights and weekends (on average staying away one weekday night per week).- Support the company to ensure all CDM legislative responsibilities are achieved.- Advise on a range of specialist areas, including fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, plant, working at height, and occupational diseases.- Assist Site Managers in establishing site-specific files to the required QA standard, minimizing duplication- Support operational teams in carrying out risk assessments and provide advice on how to reduce risks.- Advise and develop safe operational procedures that identify and address relevant hazards.- Assist in producing and developing Method Statements with Site Managers, as required.- Ensure Site Managers adequately plan works ahead of the program, giving advanced notice of any RAMs/Lift Plans that may be required and/or need reviewing.- Conduct regular site inspections at least once every two weeks to ensure policies and procedures are adequately implemented, and previous report actions are closed within specified time scales.- Complete a weekly overview report for all visited sites and submit it to the H&S Manager.- Review the site filing system at least once a month, writing a detailed report Ensure working practices are safe, comply with legislation, and align with the companys policies and standards.- Support the company H&S Manager in preparing health and safety strategies and developing internal policies.- Support in-house training with managers and employees on occupational health, safety, and risks.- Conduct accident investigations and produce detailed reports focusing on root cause analysis when required.Skills:- Experience as a Health and Safety Advisor within the construction sector- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain health and safety processes and deliver presentations to various stakeholders.- Strong negotiation skills to convince managers and workforce to implement and maintain safety standards.- Coaching, mentoring, and supportive approach to assist employees in adopting safe practices.- Patience and diplomacy to foster a collaborative approach.- Ability to understand and analyse complex information and present it simply and accurately.- Display visible leadership to promote a positive culture of behavioural health and safety within the company and its supply chain.- Inquisitive and investigative mindset.- IT skills, including preparing reports, presentations, and using inspection software applications.- Understanding of laws and regulations.- Full clean driving license.Qualifications:- NEBOSH Diploma (although not essential).- NEBOSH Construction/General Certificate (essential).- Member of IOSH (essential).- Any other construction-related degree/qualification.- Previous experience in a similar role, working within construction- Experience working as part of a high-performing team.- Previous experience in a Principal Contractor or Contractor Health and Safety role is highly desirablePlease click on apply!
