Acorn Recruitment is seeking an experienced and qualified Head of Finance / Company Secretary for their client based in Chipping Sodbury. Suitable candidates will be considered for this part-time position (3 days per week). Salary is circa £45,0000 per annum pro rata.This is a role full of variety, so requires an all-rounder.Summary:The Head of Accounts and Company Secretary is responsible for the financial accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company law for all the companies within the group of companies. The person will also have a HR role, prepare payroll, deal with staff contracts,and pension payments. In addition, you will be a member of the Management Board and carry out all the company secretarial duties.Main Duties:* To be responsible for all the underlying accounting entries for all the companies in the group.* To prepare the monthly management accounts for the group.* To prepare an annual budget and regular cash flow reports.* To liaise with the external accountants in all matters, including the preparation of the annual financial statements and corporation tax returns.* To provide financial support and management information to Company Directors.In addition:* To prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.* To maintain the company secretarial records for all the group companies.* To attend the company board meetings and prepare and circulate the notes of these meetings.* To arrange for the collection of the PII aggregate excess and PII premium.* To ensure employee contracts are prepared in accordance with the latest HR and employment law and confirm amendments to contracts and salaries as required.* To arrange for the payroll to be run monthly and ensure the correct payment of salaries, HMRC employment deductions and pensions.* To prepare annual self-billing agreements.Skills required:* Extensive management accounting experience including responsibility for credit control and receipt allocations. * Experience of supervising others. * Practical experience of a computerised account system, ideally Quest and Sage 200. * Experience of preparing statutory accounts and ideally a qualified accountant. * Able to organise own work effectively to meet regular deadlines. * Good interpersonal skills and able to build trust rapidly with the Directors and colleagues.Reporting:* A senior position reporting to the Managing Director whilst being a member of the Management Board comprising Managing Director, Chief Surveyor, Chairperson and other Statutory Directors and NED Directors.Acorn Recruitment acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment.
