Job Description

Job Title: Grant AdministratorLocation: BristolSalary: £23,936 pro-rata (based on a 37.5 hour week) paid monthly for a fixed term of 9 monthsJob Type: Part time, 14-20hrs per week for a fixed term period of 9 monthsThe Centre for Sustainable Energys mission is to support people and organisations across the UK to tackle the climate emergency and end the suffering caused by cold homes. As we grow, we are seeing increasing enquiries from people about how welfare reforms,stagnant incomes and more recently the fuel price rises and increasing cost of living are impacting their lives. As a result, these queries are often sensitive in nature, requiring our energy advisors to have an empathetic approach and a can-do attitude totheir work.The Role:The Grant Administrator will process grants for householders by telephone and email and use their administrative skills to enter customer data onto databases. A willingness to undertake routine administrative tasks with accuracy and reliability is essential.Specific responsibilities:

  • You will be required to enter text based and numerical information into excel sheets and CSEs customer database
  • You will communicate with people, some of whom may be vulnerable, verbally and in writing
  • You will be responsible for the day to day updating of our systems such as your CSE timesheets and our client database
  • The successful candidate will listen attentively to callers (some of whom may be in distress) and respond to their needs in an empathetic way
  • You will review eligibility documents submitted by householders to determine their eligibility for funding
  • You will be expected to be familiar with and adhere to CSEs protocol, processes and procedures

  • To adhere to CSEs policies and procedures
  • To communicate clearly, confidently, and persuasively using appropriate language and style for target audience, listening carefully and checking for understanding and providing challenge where appropriate
  • To represent self and CSE positively within and outside CSE, encouraging action by others line with project and CSE goals
  • To be responsible for your own health and safety and that of your colleagues in accordance with Health and Safety legislation and CSE policies and procedures
  • Commitment to maintaining and updating own skills and knowledge to ensure effective performance in the role
The Candidate:
  • Experience of entering data onto spreadsheets and databases
  • Experience of giving advice over the telephone
  • Experience of working with vulnerable people and people in financial hardship
  • Strong administrative skills and a willingness to undertake routine administrative tasks with accuracy and reliability
  • Ability to respond to clients in a respectful and engaging manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Ability to maintain admin systems independently and accurately
Benefits We will pay fees and expenses for attendance on relevant training courses, and any expenses incurred in the course of work will be reimbursed in accordance with CSEs standard staff expenses policy. You will be entitled to 25 days paid holiday (plus statutoryholidays) pro rata. There will be a 6-month probationary period and review. New members of HES staff are expected to work in the CSE office throughout the duration of their probation period.
