Graduate Power Systems Engineer Renewable Energy BristolThe role We are looking for a Graduate Power Systems Engineer to join our clients young and dynamic office in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate looking to start their career in consultancy with great potential for progression inside the company. As part of our Power Systems grid connections team you will be involved in a wide variety of projects and will have the ability to apply and develop the technical knowledge gained throughout your academic formation to solve challenging problems. The company has consistently experienced high growth due to excellent delivery a great team combined with the growing demand for renewable energy integration and the growing demand for data centres.As a Graduate Power Systems Engineer, you can expect to work in the following:

  • Power system modelling, load flow and fault level studies
  • Protection system design and setting calculation
  • Harmonic measurement, analysis and quality of supply issues
  • Grid Code compliance studies
  • Specification of key electrical equipment parameters
  • Earthing system design and studies
  • Assist with preparation of commercial and technical proposals
  • Apply your technical and analytical skills to prepare technical reports

They pride themselves for their high delivery standards across sectors that include industrial and manufacturing plant owners, network operators, independent connection providers, as well as renewable and conventional generators, covering low to extra high voltage systems.The personThe ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate the following competences:
  • Confidence in communicating with clients, articulating complex issues in a concise manner in both written and oral form
  • Keen to understand and prioritise customers needs and to develop a commercial awareness of the power industry
  • Demonstrate a proactive and self-motivated approach by developing your technical skills and the competence to work autonomously from time to time.
  • Ability to develop and apply analytical thinking and problem solving skills to establish the accuracy and relevance of the information
  • Requirements
  • A graduate with a 2:2 Bachelor’s degree or above in Power Systems / Electrical Engineering or related subject
  • Higher Degree (MSc, PhD) would be an advantage
  • Working experience undertaking protection coordination studies is highly desirable (such as internship or work placement)
  • Experience using power system modelling software (PowerFactory, ETAP, PSS/e, PSCAD, etc.)
