An opportunity to support and enhance the Governance of an FTSE 250 organisation - building a team and shaping the Governance infrastructure, the platform for the continued success of the business. My client is a phenomenal success story and has a respected reputation as an employer of choice.A newly created role, the Governance Manager is part of the Central Finance Team and reports to the Finance Director. The objective of the appointment is all about enhancing control around the organisation; business partnering as opposed to interrogating.This role is a global business partner to the various OpCos in all matters related to internal controls and governance. It is also key to improving the standards of internal controls and governance within the business, supporting the Finance Director who is leading the Group Governance Journey initiative.We are looking for an individual who is not afraid to roll up the sleeves and get involved in the detail, working closely with operational management in the OpCos to resolve internal controls and governance issues. Key responsibilities will encompass:- Operating as the flagbearer’ of governance, being the central person for supporting the OpCos on any governance needs and initiatives- Support the OpCos throughout the internal audit cycle from preparation, scoping, review draft findings, generation of action plans and management responses, and participation in audit closing meetings- Supporting the OpCos in addressing internal audit points to achieve effective closure within the agreed dates- Play a key part in a major ERP project; ensuring the appropriate controls are built into the system and identifying opportunities for automation both within this project, and the future evolution of the solution- Develop and implement a structured governance way of working such as monthly routines, peer reviews, etc- Coaching and improving the knowledge and skills of the OpCo management, both finance and non-finance leaders, in the area of internal controls and governanceWe are looking for a talented, ambitious governance manager with strong credentials. You are likely to have operated in both consultancy/public practice to have gained good exposure to best practices and pitfalls adopted in different companies, followed by some commercial experience to appreciate the challenges faced in the areas of internal controls and governance in practice, across a global spectrum.In return, the Group offers plenty of scope for a long term career and has an extensive executive benefits package on top of the attractive base salary.
