Job Description

Guidant Global is working with the UKs trusted Ministry of Defence partner, MBDA, who needs a qualified GCN Engineer to develop Missile and Weapon Systems algorithms across a wide range of defence products at the Bristol site.As a GCN Engineer with previous knowledge, you will play a vital role in ensuring support studies, managing the complex performance trades between software and hardware, and supporting algorithm proving activities. Algorithm development covers a range ofcapabilities such as autopilots, control systems, mid-course guidance, homing, propulsion control, and mission planning.What youll get to do as an GCN Engineer:Activities throughout the product life cycle include early research studies, feasibility and concept stages, product development, and customer support. These requirements will provide a broad range of experience and a varied role.The team engages with the algorithm users and understands and responds to their requirements, developing algorithmic solutions that meet the customers performance needs.

  • Responsible for the development of specific algorithms or studies to support a critical programme within MBDA
  • Commitments can include concept studies, algorithm design and trade-off studies, trial preparation, analysis and reporting, architecture definition, and algorithm and model validation.
  • Autonomous and capable of acting as a point of contact for GCNs interactions with the other project teams, e.g. (Simulation and Modelling, Software, Hardware-in-the-Loop, Systems Design & Validation and Technical Quality)
  • Perform technical analyses and investigations into a full range of issues and troubles
  • Preparing and developing solutions either individually or as a member of a project team
  • Strategic engagement with the algorithm users, understanding and responding to their needs
What were looking for:
  • Experience in algorithm development in a relevant area (such as guidance, control, data fusion, navigation, image processing)
  • Experience in Mathematical Modelling would be beneficial (such as flight dynamics, aerodynamics, sensors, actuation systems)
  • Substantial knowledge of simulation environments (e.g., MATLAB and Simulink, or similar) and programming languages (e.g., FORTRAN, Python).
