Job Description

nmcn work in partnership and collaboration with our customers, to deliver major built environment and critical national infrastructure projects across the UK. Our specialist engineering and construction teams bring multi-sector innovation and technical skill – from building and highways, to large-scale water networks and treatment plants.Through our unique offering, providing services from feasibility and design, to construction and handover, our Water business provides ‘Full Asset Lifecycle Thinking’ across our projects, in both the clean and wastewater environments for our regional water authorities and also flood prevention sites for the Environment Agency. Always ensuring we are supporting our customers with innovative outcome-based solutions and an exceptional experience. We currently deliver infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects for 10 of the largest national water sector companies and the Environment Agency.Reporting to the Installation Manager and coordinated by the Contracts Engineers, Site Managers and Site Supervisors, you will be responsible for the Mechanical installation/maintenance of industrial equipment, plant and associated ancillary materials on Flood Defences, Water Treatment, Wastewater Treatment, Pumping Stations and Chemical Dosing Systems.It should be noted that this role may require the successful applicant to participate in an ‘on-call’ rota to provide emergency breakdown attendance and work away from home from time to time.What you’ll be doing day to day

  • Carrying out PPM planned preventive maintenance on Environment Agency sites consisting of MCCs, level instrumentation, pumps, actuators, building services & web cams
  • Responsible for the Health & Safety of themselves & others.
  • Carrying out the installation of electrical / ICA containment and cabling to the required standard and within the required time frame.
  • Experience in control and automation (MEICA)
  • Emergency call out fault finding
  • Part of a Mechanical & Electrical Team - Assisting mechanical trades when required
  • Delivering the installation to meet the programme of works during construction phase
  • Complete site documentation
  • Take responsibility for site safety, health and environmental issues
  • Check goods delivered to site are supplied as per order
  • Identifying changes to the works information and reporting to the Project Engineer / Supervisor
  • The experience we’re looking for in a candidate
  • Completed an industry assessed apprenticeship.
  • Able to interrogate level instrumentation to record and adjust parameters
  • Able to interrogate actuators to record and adjust parameters / limits
  • Able to work on their own initiative and be confident in making decisions
  • Knowledge and understanding of electrical drawings and schematics
  • Innovate, providing suggestions and ideas to the Project Engineer or Site Supervisor for improved project delivery
  • Knowledge of PLC desirable
  • Testing & Inspection C&G 2391 an advantage but not a necessity
  • 17th Edition wiring regulations to BS7671 standard essential, 18th Edition wiring regulations to BS7671 standards an advantage.
  • Experience on installation of SWA, Tray, Trunking, Plastic Conduit etc
  • Knowledge of instrumentation used in the water industry
  • ATEX experience desirable
  • Profibus experience desirable
  • ECS, SSSTS, Confined Space Training, EUSR (Clean Water Hygiene) an advantage. Any training shortfalls will be provided.
