Find your future with us.BDUK is seeking a Ground Support Segment (GSS) Chief Programme Engineer to join its dynamic and growing engineeringteam to lead the delivery of GSS product and support to meet BDUKs expanding portfolio. The post has direct responsibility for a team of Lead Engineers who manage the delivery of GSS engineering products to support Flight and Operational Mission simulators.There will also be opportunity to support the initial strategy work to support UK Sovereign Mission Computing Software In Service Builds.The E-7 GSS Chief Programme Engineer, BDUK is required to lead and coordinate a multi-disciplinary engineering team todeliver engineering products and service across a programme lifecycle in accordance with contractual and MAA regulatory and Def Stan requirements.The role requires the direct coordination of all GSS assigned engineering personnel to the E-7 programme as wellas the co-ordination with other functions to ensure flawless engineering delivery to the E-7 customer throughout the lifecycle of the platform, including air and ground mission segments and incorporating significant information integration working with Boeingcounterparts in the US and Australia is an essential part of the role. This is a full-time role based at Bristol with some hybrid working options.Responsibilities:As GSS Deputy Chief Engineer UK E-7 Wedgetail, the successful applicant will:Responsible forCompany Engineering Excellence and the First Time Quality initiative across all engineering functions assigned to the E-7 GSS programmeBe responsible for the Safety and Product Integrity of the UK GSS elements of the programmeResponsibility and Authority forthe GSS devices specification, configuration, design and certification/verification (including all changes)Senior focal overseeing the design and built of the ASF labs, Ops Mission Sims and Flight Sim DeviceTechnical Authority / FocalProduct Senior Technicalinterface to customerMonitor / influence Tech Roads maps - OpportunitiesReview and approve Verification requirements and approving artefactsSystem architecture, design and ConopsCompliance to Eng SoW/Tech SSoW (contract boundary)Cross entity/contract technicaldependenciesGSS DevicesRisk Issue and Opportunity technical management, control and containmentGSS Engineering design reviews and programme gate reviews prep and tailoringService Support Design - Development of service packageTech Requirements infrastructuresolutionsCo-ordination and control of secure environmentsBe the senior Customer Technical Interface for the UK GSS and initial development of the MCS component of the programmeEnsure technical conduct, progress, performance, and results are executed in compliancewith programme requirements, plans, programme charter and Responsibility, Accountability & Authority (RAA)Delegated authority for device Certificate of design between design, production and in-service engineering activityMaintain culture of proactive technicaloversight, risk management and rapid issue resolution, providing alternative paths for issue resolution and opening dialogue on technical issuesChair E-7 technical reviews and boards and ensure effective support to Mission Assurance activitiesActs as the initialengineering POC for any new tasks/projectsAct as Mentor and or Coach to peersPreferred Experience:Proven experience as a manager or senior engineer in a dynamic and complex technical environment involving large multi-disciplined teamsSignificant experienceoperating within the MAA regulatory and Def Stan and JSP environment or civil equivalentA significant leadership background is essential with demonstrated experience both leading and developing teams, delivering results in a complex matrix environment in supportof business and mission critical requirementsA Degree level (or equivalent) qualification in Engineering, Systems Engineering, or and engineering related field is requiredExtensive experience in developing, delivering and/or managing systems/servicesideallyin a Software or Simulator co-ordination and development backgroundHave a minimum of 10 years Project Engineering Experience (Requirements Analysis, System Design, Project Planning)Excellent SE knowledge and skills, Good IT skills; Excellent Customer FacingSkillsExperience of mission systems integration in both air and ground environments is highly desirable. Ideally - C4ISTAR, Air Platforms, Mission Systems, Communications Systems and Networks, Training Systems and Training Related TechnologyWork Authorisation:This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK.
