We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to join a growing design team of around 6 people working on a Defence IT convergence programme. The primary focus of the team will be to take an existing design model and move it forwards towards implementation.Working to the Head of Transition, the successful candidate will work in close collaboration with solution and security architects on the team to mature the design and provide the technical direction to the team.Work description:- Be responsible for leading the technical design of services, systems, applications and infrastructure, you will justify, evidence and communicate design decisions- Assure services and system quality, making sure the technical work fits into the broader strategy- Explore the benefits of cross-organisation alignment- Provide mentoring and leadership to other architects- Participate in discussions with the customer on maturing the product architecture and specification definition.- Write documentation in accordance with customer and company QA policyQualification and Experience:- You have 10+ years of hands-on experience including significant Defence contracting knowledge and/or MoD experience- You have a solid background in turning business problems into technical systems design characterised by high levels of risk, impact and business or technical complexity- You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the whole context, identifying deeper underlying problems and opportunities, evolving designs to mitigate problems before they occur- You will have significant experience making and guiding technical design decisions and quality assurance, building consensus between independent stakeholders- You will be able to demonstrate a strong ability to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical, mediating and communicating with stakeholders at all levels- You have excellent knowledge of Enterprise Architecture toolsets, processes and methods including MooD and Archimate- You have experience in the design of IT convergence projects with security constraints- You are creative and proactive- You demonstrate good analytical and problem-solving skills- You are a team player with a critical eye and sense of initiative- You communicate fluently in English (oral and written)This is a contract role based in Bristol. Ideally you will already hold an SC clearance or be in a position to undergo security clearance.
