Database DeveloperRobert Half Technology is delighted to be recruiting on a retained basis for a Database Developer to join Bristol based business, Applied Market Information (AMI) - the leading providers of information, market intelligence and events for the global plasticsindustry. AMI have gone through a sustained period of growth and have a wide range of business applications using different data models and interfaces, with complex requirements for reporting against those applications. This is a fantastic opportunity fora candidate with a development background, who has a love for data and wants to gain exposure and training in more data related technologies, such as Azure Synapse, data lake and data warehousing architecture.The CompanyFounded in Bristol in 1986, AMI are the leading provider of information, market intelligence and events for the global plastics industry. AMI is underpinned by their talented staff and unique databases, supporting businesses on a global scale, with offices in the United Kingdom and United States.RoleAs a Database Developer, you will work towards integrating their systems into a seamless whole by connecting them to a central source of truth. In addition, you will support the development of further applications, both integrated with the companys websiteand for internal use, in collaboration with the other members of the development team. Some of your key responsibilities will be:

  • Implement software and design schemas to support the integration of data processing systems.
  • Work closely with the Lead Software Engineer to manage the design, development, maintenance and documentation of the Data Warehouse
  • Work closely with the Business Intelligence Developer to support production of operational and analytic reports.
  • Work closely with the Lead Software Engineer and Developer (Web Applications) to implement applications that use relational database storage.
  • Keep solutions up to date with the latest software development techniques and technologies.
  • Manage and maintain Azure and on-premise databases.
  • Develop and maintain a structured approach to data research, analysis, and storage.
Your ProfileCompetencies:
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate and resolve problems before they arise
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and enthusiasm to be part of a team
  • Able to work autonomously and make independent decisions
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with people at all levels
Technical Skills:
  • Development background working with object-oriented programming languages such as Python or C#.
  • Proficient in relational database systems, such as SQL or PostgreSQL
  • Proficient in database languages, such as T-SQL
Desirable (not required):
  • Knowledge of data lake / data warehousing architecture
  • Knowledge of Azure Synapse
