Data QA Engineer, Automation (ETL/AWS/SQL/Agile) – Bristol£70k + remote workingMy client, one of UKs largest Media Company, whos head office is based in London, is looking for an outstanding Data Quality Assurance Engineer to work from home in Cambridge to develop and execute exploratory and automated tests to ensure the quality of their processes and services.This role is based predominantly at home and very limited travel to London is needed once they return to a new normal.The news publisher sells 600 million newspaper each month, with 6 million readers monthly and 8 billion page views per year.The Data QA Engineer will be joining a team of analysts, data engineers, and developers, which are actively working in the construction of a Datalake using the AWS platform. Their principal activities are implementing ingestion tasks for different data sources, design and deployment of ETL workflows, curating data, and producing complex reports.The QA engineer responsibilities included Designing and implementing tests, debugging and defining corrective actions, to validate the previous tasks. The QA technician role plays an important part in their team’s product development process.The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting tests before product launches to ensure software runs smoothly and meets stakeholder’s needs, while being cost-effective.Ultimately, you should monitor all stages of software development to identify and resolve system malfunctions to meet quality standards.ResponsibilitiesYou will be joining a critical and challenging project whose main goal is delivering a single view of the customer across our multiple data silos, in order to increase customer engagement.You are comfortable and passionate working with business intelligence tools, can model large event datasets, and can partner with other people in the company to answer key business questions.Some additional responsibilities include:Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedbackCreate detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test casesEstimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activitiesDesign, develop and execute automation scripts using open source and commercial toolsIdentify, record, document thoroughly and track bugsRequirementsProven experience working with Data Lakes and Data warehousesExperience testing data ETL workflowsGood knowledge of the AWS platform (ideally S3, Glue, Athena, Step Functions, CloudFormation, Code pipeline)Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processesProven work experience in software quality assuranceExperience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test casesSolid knowledge of SQLExperience working in an Agile/Scrum development processExperience with performance and/or security testing is a plusBS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subjectImportant Information: We endeavour to process your personal data in a fair and transparent manner.
