Job Description

Continuous Improvement Lead - Defence and Military Systems - Permanent - Attractive - Southwest A Continuous Improvement Lead is required to join an International Defence Systems company that designs, manufactures, and supports world leading military Systems. The successful Continuous Improvement Lead will be responsible for the delivery of process innovation and continuous improvement initiatives. The Continuous Improvement Lead will play an important role in helping to foster a culture of sustainable change through the creation and embedding of LEAN methodology. The Continuous Improvement Lead will be supporting framework, to deliver business transformation as required.Continuous Improvement Lead will be responsible for the following:

  • Identify and deliver service improvement activity across the business.
  • Employ process improvement methodologies and the application of innovative thinking.
  • Work with key business stakeholders to build a continuous improvement environment.
  • Support an ongoing programme of change.
  • Lead and facilitate LEAN/process improvement-based workshops to drive ideas and solutions.
  • Identification and elimination of unnecessary complexity within business processes.
  • Identify trends to establish a continuous improvement monitoring system.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a continuous improvement strategy.
  • Take ownership of change initiatives from efficiency identification through to project delivery.
  • Drive process change using staff interviews, document analysis and requirements workshops.
  • Get involved with business analysis and workflow analysis.
  • Devise support material based on revised processes with training, reporting & systems enhancements.
  • Actively monitor project risks to foresee/identify potential problems & proactively identify solutions.
  • Ensure business impact and project objectives/dependencies are identified, reported and managed.
  • Complete post implementation reviews to ensure successful delivery has been achieved.
  • Ensure that improvements can be made for future projects.
  • Take ideas from inception to delivery, in environment that requires robust metrics to confirm success.
  • Where necessary, support off site (UK and overseas) visits for CI activities.
  • Deliver annual objectives set by functional manager.
  • Supervise and co-ordinate CI activities.
  • Undertake other additional duties that may be required from time to time.
The Continuous Improvement Lead should have the following Qualifications Skills or Experience:
  • Educated to Degree/HND level.
  • Proven continuous improvement analytical experience from a similar role.
  • Experience of project management and business analysis within Engineering and Manufacturing.
  • Understanding of continuous improvement concepts inc: Six Sigma, Lean, Value Stream Mapping.
  • Ability to set-up, facilitate and lead service improvement and experience of process mapping.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office, including Project, Visio, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience of designing or implementing a framework of continuous improvement in an organisation.
  • Experience of hands-on implementation of continuous improvement programs and Lean solutions.
  • Experience of identifying and eliminating the root cause of productivity and efficiency issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with all.
  • Strong analytical, project and product management skills.
  • Understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate into operational requirements.
  • Experience of the whole project life cycle.
  • Desirably accredited to Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the challenges of technology development.
  • Knowledge of new product development and new product introduction projects.
  • Familiarity with multinational projects subject to US ITAR and UK export legislation.
  • Some experience in the use of industrial MRP ERP tools.
