University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust are pleased to offer this fixed term position for a Clinical Fellow to join the Cardiology team at the Bristol Heart Institute.The post-holder will complete two rotations (one in Cardiology for all post holders and one of either the Acute Medical Unit (AMU), the Emergency Department (ED), Care of the Elderly or Respiratory), plus and a 12-week block of orientation/specialist interest time (this may be split in two blocks, as appropriate).The successful applicant will join the existing medical CMT on-call rota throughout the post.The BHI is a state-of-the art £57m centre dedicated to cardiology, cardiac surgery, cardiac imaging and cardiovascular research. The Department of Cardiology provides a secondary and tertiary service for Bristol and the surrounding area, and the facility includes four catheterisation laboratories and a hybrid catheter laboratory/surgical theatre. The BHI provides the 24/7 primary angioplasty service for the immediate catchment and the wider network. Outpatient clinics for general cardiology as well as specialised clinics including heart failure, valvular heart disease, electrophysiology (EP), intervention and Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) take place in the BHI. A consultant led, post-take cardiology ward round is provided for all emergency admissions with a cardiac problem.The post is based in the Bristol Heart Institute, which provides secondary and tertiary cardiac services in a purpose-built environment. We have 3 cardiology wards, 4 (almost 5!) dedicated catheterisation labs and provide Cardiology for the population of South Bristol and North Somerset along with tertiary referrals from the whole of the Avon, Gloucester, Wiltshire and Somerset Cardiac Network.
