This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support whenyou return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Claims and underwriting Manager.This role is full time, based in central Bristol and offers flexible working patterns between Monday and FridayIn this role, you will:

  • Manage a portfolio of open life insurance claims making practical, balanced decisions consistent with expected standards in the assessment and mitigation of risk.
  • Ensure fair outcomes are delivered for customers, such that their experience is in line with the expectations we set, and HSBC brand values are maintained. Communication with customers must be transparent and clearly explain the outcome of an Underwritingor Claims decision.
  • Develop a network of effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders throughout the underwriting and claims process, which enable engagement, productive collaboration, and execution at pace
  • Ensure all Underwriting and Claims decisions are made within your own individual authority limits, reassurance treaty limits and comply with internal Group limits outlined in the UK Insurance risk mandate.
  • Operate within a telephony based environment, handling inbound and making outbound calls
RequirementsTo be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
  • A demonstrable and proven technical ability in underwriting and/or claim handling
  • Have a passion for continuously delivering a superior customer experience.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills which will enable you to engage in effective conversations with customers & to build strong professional rapport
  • An ability to adhere to prescribed processes, showing resilience through a complex governance and matrix managed business
  • Some experience of effective end to end complaints handling would be beneficial although not essential
