Job Description

Perm AWS Cloud EngineerLocation: BristolType: Flexible, three days a week in the office but welcome to do more.Salary: CompetitiveSecurity Clearance: Must be eligible for SC clearanceThis is a truly unique opportunity for a Cloud Engineer to join an exciting SME that utilise cutting edge technology to deliver complex Geospatial solutions for secure end customers and marine insurance customers.Enabled by technology, enriched by people. Building on a military intelligence pedigree, they have developed a unique range of geospatial intelligence services, platforms, and partnerships. Its a technical portfolio that involves the collectiveefforts of an expert network; everyone from software developers to intelligence analystsYour role will be to ensure that the current platform, hosted in AWS, remains performant for the customer and secure. As well as having an influential role in developing future projects, through working with Data-Science and Development teams to build worldleading solutions.Key Responsibilities:

  • Support development of AWS infrastructure.
  • Progress the suite of backend/database services.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins.
  • Be familiar with ETL (extract, transform, load) applications and database design and management.
Core Experience:
  • Extensive AWS experience (ECS, EC2, Lambda, RDS, IAM, Networking)
  • Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform)
  • Experience with DevOps practises & software (e.g., using Jenkins)
  • Ability to design and architect solutions with Python and AWS
  • Python3, with familiarity with pandas/spark library
  • Experience working with and applying Agile methodologies
Beneficial Experience:
  • Developing APIs, preferably in Flask with SQLAlchemy
  • Database experience (Postgres)
  • Understanding and promoting a good level of unit testing.
  • Experience with containerization tools (Docker)
  • Help more junior team members to understand best software practices and share skills
  • Big Data experience, architecting and maintaining big data pipelines, understanding of best practices around big data
