Job Description

As part of the Information Management & Information Technology function (IMIT), your impact will be felt across the organisation, helping to embed new technology and tools, automate processes and improve data management. Improve on whats gone before - and drive for whats next.At Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) and the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA),the Analytics Managers role are focussed around delivery of DE&S and SDA MI Solutions, and/or developing Business Intelligence and Analysis products to inform decision-makers,and will require close collaboration with product owners in the business, data, MI and architecture colleagues in DE&S Digital and stakeholders across DE&S and MOD.This will include regular interaction with both internal and external stakeholders, involves advising customers on complex and contentious issues, introduction of Business Intelligence products (including dashboards and data science outputs) that supportdecision making across DE&S or SDA.The role would suit a proactive person with a strong track record of managing complex and diverse data sets, whilst using tools and techniques to perform detailed, cross-cutting analysis to identify risks, opportunities and recommendations for senior leadershipconsideration. All posts will require the successful candidate to attain SC (Security Clearance).About the roleIn this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Gather data requirements from stakeholders, interpret the data and shape data sets to fulfil requirements and provide insights from initial analysis to inform detailed requirements for deliverable solutions.
  • Responsible for data manipulation and visualisation to further exploit data to support effective business decision making.
  • Carry out KPI requirement analysis, gap analysis and other analytics procedures to support the Analytics Lead in providing Management Information to senior stakeholders.
  • Manage supply of data to multiple systems & applications including Database management to secure data availability and the construction of efficient scripts to extract data for business usage.
  • Apply Data Architect advice in the construction of databases to deliver services that are automated, reliable and secure and monitor performance of the database, identifying improvements in quality, performance and data measurement.
Person specificationTo be successful with your application, youll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:
  • Technical/professional qualification or equivalent in experience across Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science or Information Systems.
  • Experience in data management and analysis of data.
  • Knowledge and demonstrable experience of working within Business Analytics.
  • Have a strong understanding in either data modelling or ETL concepts.
In addition to the responsibilities above, the following technical competences and behaviours will be assessed at interview:
  • - MI and Analytics Practitioner
  • Strategy, Architecture, and Solution Design - Supervisor Practitioner
  • Communicating and Influencing (CSBC 3)
