Job Description

Second Line Support EngineerLocation: Onsite, Mangotsfield, BristolSalary: £25,000 - £28,000 + 20% pension + excellent company benefitsPermanent vacancy, full timeRole purpose:The core purpose of this role is to deliver onsite IT assistance to our client, this includes technical assistance as well as advice on the usage of systems/equipment. The IT team focuses on providing a customer service centric approach to the delivery ofsupport services to the client, this role is a key visible component of the service delivery. This role will work closely with the IT team, members of staff and 3rd parties to build, maintain and support the systems used across the business.As the primary contact for a given site, you will be responsible for carrying out essential tasks, maintenance and enhancements across the IT estate. There are many exciting aspects included within this, from re-development projects and opportunities throughto assisting in the deployment of new equipment to improve the overall user experience. The impact of your work onsite has a direct contribution to the learning environment that is provided for user development; this is a highly rewarding concept that expandsto being able to feedback in to the IT team on potential improvements that may benefit the organisation.The role works closely with other members of IT and will benefit from being able to learn and develop through these means.Key duties:

  • Provide onsite assistance for all IT related issues, including CCTV and Access Control
  • Work with other teams within the IT department to improve knowledge, documentation, and overall process
  • Troubleshoot issues that are reported to IT; typically relating to desktops, multi-media equipment, basic networks, access related issues and applications
  • Work with the centralised service desk to provide an optimum service to the IT users
  • Maintain an up-to-date record within the Service Management System with ticket updates or additional information as appropriate
  • Provide training to staff on the usage of IT systems where required
  • Escalate issues to other team members as appropriate; providing a clear record or actions completed to date
  • Undertake physical installations and/or moves of hardware
  • Work on nominated project elements as required
  • Own the removal and disposal of legacy equipment from site
  • Perform onsite maintenance of server related equipment where required
  • Maintain centralised IT documentation, including IP schemas, application installation documents and registers of equipment
