Job Description

1st-2ndline IT support engineerLocation:Bristol regionSalary:up to£25,000per annum dependent on experienceHours:40 hours per weekThe Aurora GroupAurora is an innovative provider of education and care for children, young people and adults with special educational needs and disabilities.Based in eitherWestbury Park, Bristol;orPilning, South Glos; (with expected 50/50 travel to both sites) we?re looking for an experience1st-2nd Line Support engineerto provide IT support to our schools in the Bristol and South Glos areaThe RoleYou?ll be our single point of contact for IT queries and questions for our schools in the Bristol area which you will try and to resolve as effectively as possible; escalating the more challenging requests to our group?s IT partner.Typically; it will be your role to respond, troubleshoot and resolve a wide range of IT issues from our employees such as log-in issues; remote access, the build and set-up of laptops/desktops/mobiles; the configuration and fix of end user devices/software.Additionally you?ll take responsibility for all Active Directory user management for starters/leavers/permissions.The role will give you a great opportunity to expand on your existing SW/HW/Networking skills with a high level of independence and autonomy.Experience:Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:

  • The ability to resolve a range of IT issues across a range of technology (detailed below).
  • A good working knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Operating Systems (Windows 10, Server 2012 R2, Server 2016) and other software applications such as Microsoft Office, Office 365, Sharepoint, Radius, VLANs, Deployment technologies such as MDT..
  • Good knowledge of back-end systems such as network file servers, backup technologies.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, domains, sub-domains + virtualisation technologies such as Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Basic knowledge of email archiving and retrieval processes, including email security setup.
  • Knowledge and Understanding of network infrastructure i.e. network switches, patch leads (network cabs), wireless access points/controllers, VLANs.
  • Ability to install IT equipment and swap out components and able to diagnose
  • Excellent communication skills ? all mediums/all levels
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise
  • Driving license with the ability to travel to other Aurora sites (North Bristol / Pilning) when required.
