Job Description

Supplier Quality EngineerPermanent position£30,000 to £35,000 per annum (based on experience), Pension up to 6%, 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays)Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week (half day on Fridays)WattonOur client is a worldwide manufacturer within the Aviation and Defence industry. Manufacturing market leading safety and securement products for global Aerospace and Defence companies. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Supplier Quality Engineerto join this tight-knit team, identifying process improvements and control improvements with the companies supply chain.WattonSupplier Quality EngineerJob Specification

  • Evaluating the current supplier selection and approvals
  • Drive continuous improvement in the supply chain quality and productivity
  • Carry out Supplier Quality Management and Supplier Process Improvement on a regular basis
  • Supporting goods inwards and purchasing, with incoming paperwork and product queries
  • Working with the supplier directly to create, manage and close corrective action plans to address any process failures
  • Collect and maintain supplier performance metrics for review
  • Regularly visit suppliers and assist the Supply Chain in conducting Supplier Audits
  • Working with Engineering, Procurement and Operations on New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • Recommend suppliers for qualification and/or disqualification based upon quality performance
  • Having strategic awareness of supply chain risk and suggest potential changes to suppliers to mitigate risk
  • Ability to inspect product to engineering data/drawings sufficiently to determine compliance e.g., using hand measuring tools and reading specifications to evaluate compliance
Supplier Quality EngineerEssential Skills/Experience/Qualifications
  • Experience working within a manufacturing background
  • Have strong problem solving and relationship building skills
  • Experience working within a highly regulated industry such as Aerospace, Automotive, Rail, Healthcare
  • Proven experience building and maintaining relationships with internal/external suppliers & stakeholders
  • Internal audit experience to AS9100D
  • Strong communication and team skills
Supplier Quality EngineerDesirable Skills/Experience/Qualifications
  • Experience using Lean and Six Sigma and problem-solving methods such as 8D, 5 Why
  • Proven experience working with overseas suppliers
