Job Description

Birch and James are pleased to be working with a growing and successful insurance brokerage based in West London. Our client is not only focused on the growth of their firm but the development and progression of their team. If you are driven and passionate about providing high-quality commercial broking service to an existing portfolio of clients and new clients brought on, then please get in touch.This is an opportunity for an experienced Commercial Account Handler to increase their responsibility and put their full skill set to use. You will be working directly with the Company Director in order to assist with the management of an existing portfolio of clients and mentorship of other team members.The policies you will be managing with the Company Director will be premiums ranging between £1,000 to £100,000. The clients will traditionally be portfolio landlords, retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers and distributors.Personal Qualities you will have:

  • Cert CII qualified or working towards
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships with clients, insurers and colleagues.
  • Enthusiasm about working with our clients in order to deliver a great client experience and advice.
  • Motivated to consistently deliver to high standards.
  • Personal self-management enabling effective organization, time management and efficient completion of work
  • This position ideally requires 5+ years’ experience working as a Commercial Account handler from within the insurance sector.What you will need to know and be able to do to a high standard:
  • You will be responsible for placing and managing the daily commercial insurance requirements for a portfolio of clients.
  • You will be ensuring the adequacy and appropriateness of cover
  • You will be producing clients reports, cover summaries, checking policies and responsible for daily insurance queries and questions from clients.
  • Preparation and delivery of insurer risk presentations and negotiations with providers to secure the most appropriate cover for clients.
  • Competent technical ability in all aspects of the commercial insurance business, including Property portfolio, commercial combined and general insurance.
  • Have technical and administrative knowledge to assist with claims
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance relating to the day to day handling of commercial business.
  • Good Microsoft office systems knowledge, including Excel.
  • Experience of Acturis system desired but not essential
