Site Name: UK - London - BrentfordPosted Date: Jul 6 2020Are you interested in a medical affairs role that leverages your project management expertise and contribute to local medical plans If so, this Medical Affairs Manager role could be an ideal opportunity to explore.As a Medical Affairs Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring adequate therapy area input, maximised leveraging of existing Medical platforms, and aligned implementation of Medical Affairs processes and initiatives across the Medical organisation.This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Lead, manage and develop the medical therapy team to help deliver the GSK mission and to ensure achievement of company objectives. This will include
  • Setting business objectives and priorities and conducting appraisals to drive performance
  • Creation of environment conducive to successful implementation and team development
  • Driving and shaping the environment to facilitate market access and to ensure engagement of relevant Healthcare Professionals, including strategic input into health technology assessments and other relevant submissions
  • Provide authoritative opinion on medical and ethical matters to support the team and other colleagues across GSK, enabling the evidence-based use of GlaxoSmithKline medicines and compliance with the relevant statutory requirements (e.g. ABPI Code of Practice, Medicines Act, and EU Directives).
  • Ownership and delivery of the medical aspects of the therapy area business plans, including key evidence generation plans, working closely with colleagues across GlaxoSmithKline UK (e.g. Marketing, Sales, Health Outcomes) Identification, development and implementation of clinical plans, including activities such as Investigator-Sponsored studies, to address data gaps and other key barriers to appropriate medicine use.
  • Establish relationships and build trust with investigators to answer medical questions or provide GCP, safety, and therapy training and address issues arising from studies in the UK by supporting the clinical director and clinical study managers. To provide input into post study analysis with the central team and interpretation for the UK.
  • Building relationships with key experts and external organisations to ensure that GlaxoSmithKline retains a leading voice in the UK Healthcare industry.
  • Co-ordinating and utilising specialist knowledge with brand aligned colleagues in formulating and implementing short and long term medical strategy for optimal benefit to the patient, health care professional and GSK.
  • Why youBasic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • A GMC registered or GMC permissible medical doctor with the right to work in the UK or UK registered pharmacist.
  • A good understanding of the changing UK health care environment, including knowledge of health technology assessments and market access challenges in the UK
  • Broad Pharmaceutical industry experience or equivalent.Preferably Dip Pharm Med or equivalent qualification and membership of FPP or working towards it.
  • Proactive, self motivated, self-reliant.Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team of medical and scientific professionals
  • Basic financial understanding
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of the APBI Code of Practice
  • Relevant therapy area knowledge is a plus.
