Site Name: UK - London - BrentfordPosted Date: Jul 1 2020Are you a Competitive Intelligence professional seeking the next challenge in your career If so, the Competitive Intelligence Director Pipeline role here at GSK could be the perfect opportunity for you!We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced Competitive Intelligence Director for our Specialty & Primary Care TA. This is a key role in supporting the Medicines Commercial Teams (MCTs) and Pipeline & Portfolio Strategy Teams (PPSG) and as such you will act as an objective, critical and strategic advisor based on your deep expertise in current and future competitive drivers in markets such as respiratory, immune-inflammation or infectious disease. An opportunity like this rarely arises and we are looking for an exceptional individual who through their insightful and objective analysis of the respective competitive environment can help shape GSK brand strategies, now and for the future.As a member of the Global Strategic Insights team aligned to GSK’s MCTs and PPSG teams within the Specialty & Primary Care TA you will be responsible for

  • Dedicated competitive intelligence support for selected marketed and/or pipeline products, Licensing/Business Development opportunities & other strategic assessments
  • Development of timely and actionable competitive insights including effective integration, consolidation and communication of analyses and insights at both disease and brand level
  • Integrating primary and secondary information sources to derive competitive insight for marketed and pipeline assets, develop insight on competitor strategies, tactics and potential positioning to ensure competitiveness of GSK brands
  • Expert use of a wide range of competitor information sources to support development of commercial forecasts, investment and brand strategy decisions (including evidence generation) and in-market competitor response activities
  • Managing the resourcing and capabilities of a dedicated CI offshore team making sure that the team is optimized to deliver maximum value and on-time delivery to stakeholders
  • Act as an objective, critical and strategic advisor to brand teams based on deep expertise in current and future competitive drivers in the respiratory marketplace
  • Provide insightful and objective analysis of competitive environment (strategies and tactics) to provide an appropriate context for assigned GSK respiratory brands
  • Develop holistic and predictive competitor landscape assessments based on a thorough understanding and analysis of internal and external business issues using robust CI sources and innovative methodologies and ensure integration of intelligence and CI deliverables into brand planning, forecasting, evidence generation and strategic decision making.
  • Make recommendations on competitor insights that prepare GSK brands for a competitive marketplace. Ensure local assumptions are consistent with global assumptions
  • Lead proactive competitor response planning activities with MCTs and key LOCs
  • Lead cross-functional scenarios analysis and competitive simulation workshops both at MCT and key LOC level for key GSK brands
  • Lead competitive intelligence planning for key congresses with input from GSK teams and/or third party agency. Drive GSK team preparedness, ensure key intelligence questions developed, align onsite activities and consolidate key insights and disseminate post-congress
  • Manage CI budget on behalf of brand teams and engage third party agencies as appropriate. Ensure all CI research activities are conducted within appropriate GSK code of conduct, compliance and ethical business practices
  • Basic Qualifications: The job holder needs to be tenacious and have a strong performance mindset – driving for results through an understanding of drivers of the business and has an ability to focus on the things that make a difference and get things done. To achieve this the job holder needs to have:
  • Extensive experience in healthcare, in pharmaceutical (medical or marketing background) or management consultancy
  • Deep understanding of drug development process, including activities from preclinical through marketing of a product, principles of disease treatment, rationale for treatment algorithms and business knowledge of pharma companies and their business practices
  • Proven record in providing insightful and actionable competitive insights through innovative approaches
  • Experienced in a global matrix environment, across a range of functions, seniority, and geographical locations.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. or MBA
  • Fluency in understanding scientific, market and competitive data to spot patterns and opportunities to capture value for GSK wrt competition
  • Ability to challenge, influence and support senior stakeholders
  • Courageous and open communication style
  • Deep understanding of Respiratory and/or Immune-Inflammation specialty disease area and market place that can be applied to competitive intelligence
