Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for appropriately qualified and experienced IAPT CBT therapists to take on additional supervisory, managerial and service development related responsibilities and extend their knowledge and skills.Applicants must have substantial experience of working as high intensity CBT therapists in an IAPT service, managing complex client presentations and providing formal clinical supervision to IAPT qualified staff and trainees. Applicants should also have experience of participating and leading in areas of service development such as service promotion and outreach, or perinatal, long term health conditions etc and have a passion and interest in promoting health and wellbeing within the wider community and engaging with relevant stakeholders.Applicants must have current BABCP therapist accreditation as an essential requirement in order to apply for this role.Applicants must have good knowledge about the IAPT programme and have demonstrated high standards of communication skills, problem solving and have developed good professional working relationships with staff, patients, partners and the general public.We are looking for applicants who have enthusiasm for working within IAPT services and who are interested in contributing to further development of the IAPT service model, in service expansion in line with the Five Year Forward View for Mental Health. The COVID pandemic has also led to changes and adaptations to service models and delivery, and we are looking for applicants who are flexible, creative, have excellent clinical skills and an interest in staff support and development.Post requirementsThe post-holder will provide expert supervision and support for experienced high intensity therapists, psychological wellbeing practitioners and trainees working within the service and contribute to provision of senior clinician cover for the service along with other senior staff within the team for duty and evening clinics. The postholder will be expected to participate in extended hours clinics run by the service from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm to provide senior cover as well offer assessments and treatments to clients across both team bases and other sites as appropriate.The service combines site based as well as remote working and applicants are advised to note this and that there is an expectation that they will be required to come on site for some part of the week, and this will evolve along with the COVID 19 pandemic and changes that services will need to make.The post holder will carry a clinical caseload and contribute to and provide highly specialist assessment, formulation and interventions to clients using a stepped care model in line with the national programme and latest NICE guidance for psychological interventions. Postholders will have had extensive experience of working across Mental Health Services with a range of client groups with moderate as well as complex severe and enduring mental health problems.The post holder will receive regular clinical and managerial supervision and support and join other senior clinicians within the service. There are also wider links with other Talking Therapies services within CNWL Foundation Trust and the Trust-wide clinical psychology services. We have good links with and have trainees from all the Regional training courses and there would be opportunities to mentor and supervise Trainee Clinical Psychologists, and High Intensity Trainees.The ServiceThe CNWL Talking Therapies Brent team is a large and well established service, and is responsible for the provision of Low intensity and High Intensity therapies, including brief counselling within the standards of stepped care model at steps 2 and 3. The staff team provide services across the borough of Brent in GP practices, healthcare centres, community organisations as well as the main hubs in Kingsbury and Willesden.The service is well subscribed to and has good systems in place to manage incoming referrals and waiting lists. National and CCG targets on waiting times, patients entering treatment and recovery have been met regularly and consistently. The team are friendly, welcoming and have excellent systems in place for peer support. Staff have regular clinical supervision.
