A vacancy exists for a Bioinformatician to work within the National Infections Service at Colindale. The post-holder will be responsible for developing and implementing robust, innovative bioinformatics approaches for analysing genome data to support activities in the detection and surveillance of microbial pathogens. Projects will focus on the development and application of novel technologies for detecting pathogens and investigating outbreaks.The post is funded by NIHRHealth Protection Research Unit in Genomics and Data Enabling, a collaboration with the Universities of Warwick, Cambridge, Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and Public Health England.We are seeking self-motivated and proactive applicants with a higher degree in Bioinformatics/computer science, experience of large-scale sequencing analysis, and using a range of programming languages. The post-holder will be expected to work independently and will have significant autonomy within his/her specialist area of expertise.
