Job Description

We are on the look out for two Science Technicians to join our highly aspirational learning community. You will be an enthusiastic helpful individual, excited to join a busy and successful team.Science TechnicianBradford, West Yorkshire, BD9 4BQ

  • Full time, permanent
  • Term time only, plus 2 days
  • £18187.75 - £18848.54 actual pay, depending on experience
  • Start as soon as possible

You will join a busy and successful Division that operates acrosstwo sites located 1 mile apart from each.Key responsibilities:In your role as Science Technician, you will be required to:
  • Provide assistance and information as required in the preparation of resources for practical lessons that meet both the Health and Safety standards and College requirements
  • To provide general assistance in the safe storage, transit and accessibility of resources
  • To assist the technician team to ensure a healthy, safe and productive work environment
As part of your day-to-day operations, you will be expected to:
  • Prepare solutions materials, cultures for living organisms
  • Assemble apparatus
  • Obtain materials by local purchase, trialling practical activities
  • Carry out risk assessments for technical activities
  • Assist in practical classes
  • Constructing and modifying apparatus
  • Ensure that stock levels are maintained
  • Liaise with suppliers when compiling orders and distributing stock on arrival
  • Maintaining resources, including routine repairs
  • Keep up to date with Health and Safety requirements
  • Caring for plants and animals
  • Organising and storing resources
  • General cleaning of laboratory bench surfaces and fixed equipment
  • Dispose of/treat waste materials in line with current guidelines
  • Provide first aid and attend appropriate training as necessary
Your qualifications and skills:
  • Technical qualifications appropriate to the role or equivalent experience
  • English and Maths GCCE (at least Grade C)
  • Computer literate
  • Sympathetic to and supportive of our Catholic ethos
  • Driven to promoting exemplary learning behaviours for all learners
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Enthusiastic about education being delivered to the highest of standards
