Reed Wellbeing is a public service provider delivering lifestyle and wellbeing programmes that help people improve their health. Working on our National Diabetes PreventionProgramme (NDPP), you will take participants through a 9-month journey of 1:1 and group sessions, providing tailored dietary, nutritional and physical activity advice to bring about permanent lifestyle changes.Delivering sessions across West Yorkshire, you will work in the heart of the community, and will cover the following locations:Bradford, Keighley, Bingley, Shipley, Wilsden, Baildon, Low Moor and Ilkley.What is the role aboutThe main purpose of the Health & Wellbeing Coach is to deliver market leading, evidence-based services to a wide range of participants, with the overall aim of supporting them to lose weight, make lasting lifestyle changes and reducing their risk of type 2diabetes. This is a challenging role that will draw on all your experience and knowledge but will allow you to make a significant difference to people and their families. At Reed Wellbeing, we put our participants at the heart of everything we do, and thisrole is no different. You will tailor your sessions and offer a flexible service that helps everyone reach their goals.Just some of your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Delivery of 1 on 1 and group sessions to participants, covering diet, nutrition, and physical activity.
  • Tailor delivery of each session to meet the Participants needs and learning styles.
  • Provide guidance & support to each participant, helping them through their journey to a healthier lifestyle and significant change
  • Creating and maintaining a constructive and confidential learning environment
  • Capturing key metrics at different points in the participants journey i.e. monitoring and recording participants progress on weight management.
  • Liaise with professionals including GPs and primary care staff to promote and generate referrals to the service.

  • Experience of coaching or facilitating diverse participant groups.
  • Experience of/interest in working with groups to achieve sustained behavioural or lifestyle improvements.
  • Experience of working to targets and driving performance improvement.
  • An understanding of health-related behaviour change.
  • Active listening skills whilst maintaining a non-judgemental perspective on participants lifestyle, weight, and health.
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and accurately, information regarding an individuals health and weight.
  • Ability to coach individuals and groups to identify solutions and develop knowledge and skills to support behavioural change.
  • Willingness to undertake evening and weekend work as required.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel in order to deliver programmes across designated region.
  • Full UK Driving licence with access to own vehicle.
Desirable Qualifications
  • REPs Level 3 Exercise Referral qualification or equivalent;
  • or Level 3 qualification in health improvement or promotion or public health or equivalent (eg. City & Guilds Level 3 Health Trainer or equivalent);
  • or Level 3 qualification in nutrition;
  • or Level 3 Training qualification (eg. PTTLs/Award in Education & Training)
