Job Description

Working in partnership with a social housing company based in Bradford we have an exciting new opportunity for a Governance Manager to join the Legal and Governance Team. This role is full time and permanent with hybrid working available.The role would suit someone with substantial management experience in a governance or a regulatory role with knowledge of Group structures and Companies House matters.Key Responsibilities:

  • Understanding of the principles underpinning RSH regulation and processes.
  • Ability to interpret and process complex policy documents and legislation.
  • You will have proven experience of dealing with directors and senior stakeholders and of building strong working relationships and cross-functionally in a governance environment.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work well as a team player will be key strengths.
  • Experience of managing teams and flexibility to work out of hours as and when needed.
  • Ability to populate forward plans, interpret and advise on constitutional articles and rules.
  • Deal with all company secretary matters.
  • Support board and committees: forward plan, meetings, agendas papers, minute-taking, resolutions.
  • Assist with the managing and facilitation of board and committees.
  • Manage and oversee the statutory and regulatory compliance.
  • Minute Board and Committee meetings.
The ideal candidate would:
  • Be a qualified chartered secretary (ICSA)/ lawyer - with a good knowledge of company law or have significant experience as a governance manager or of working within a governance department in the Social Housing or not for profit sector
  • Have substantial experience in a regulatory/governance role.
  • Have management experience
  • Have experience of the administration of Companies House matters and for Cooperative and Community Benefit Societies.
  • Have substantial experience of the Regulator of Social Housings standards, and the National Housing Federations Code of Governance
  • Have in-depth understanding of schemes of delegation, standing orders and Terms of Reference.
  • Have excellent planning and organisation skills
  • Communicate clearly with colleagues across the business and enjoy problem solving
  • Be open minded and provide accurate and constructive advice and guidance
