Job Description

We are looking for an experienced carpenter / joiner to join our small friendly team as as a carpentry, joinery and kitchen fitting tutor. No previous tutor / assessing experience is required and the position would ideally suit a candidate who would relishan opportunity to pass on their years of experience, knowledge and skills wanting to take a step back from working as a contractor. The position is a full time position of regular hours of 8.30am to 5pm job in the same location at our purpose built trainingcentre whilst still being in a trade like friendly environment teaching private adults hands on practical skills.You will be required to teach practical hands on courses to members of the paying public. Some candidates are looking to learn some basic DIY skills whilst others might already be in the trade such as a plasterer looking to learn how to build a partitionwall and hang a door. Small class numbers of between 4 and 6 students, average ages between 30 and 50 years of age who are looking to learn some more skills in a relaxed private training centre.The role will include teaching and recording some evidence so that basic qualifications can also be achieved by the students if they wish. You will be training adult learners of small class sizes from 4 to 6 students per week in a large open well equippedtraining centre.The level of the practical training courses you will be teaching are at level 1 so a good understanding of carpentry, joinery and kitchen fitting is required with qualifications in the trade being beneficial but not necessary. Passing on your experienceis key, showing and teaching learners practically how to use hand tools to create woodwork joints, build a partition wall, hang doors, fit architrave and skirting and fit kitchens including using a router for the worktop joint etc.Teaching adult learners on short courses to learn basic skills. Knowledge in other trades such bricklaying would also be ideal but not required.You will need to be confident, motivated and well organised, have good time keeping skills and be able to work as part of a team.Although ideal, no teaching or training experience is needed as training will be given to the successful candidate if required. You will be required to manage the woodworking department as a whole within the training centre including ordering of suppliesbut duties will also include helping the other departments, general training centre housekeeping and some basic office duties will be required from time to time.Assessing and teaching qualifications would be beneficial but not required. The successful candidate will be given training and support towards attaining such qualifications.The position would ideally suit a candidate who would relish an opportunity to pass on their knowledge and skills wanting to take a step back from working as a contractor and move into teaching. This is regular hours of 8.30am to 5pm job in the same locationwhilst still being in a trade like friendly environment.Suitable candidates will meet the following criteria:*Experienced in carpentry and joinery.*Experienced in kitchen fitting.*Have good organisational and planning skills.*Be confident and well organised.*Have good time keeping skills and be able to work as a team.*Plenty of enthusiasm and the ability to motivate learners.*Willingness to provide outstanding support for learners*Knowledge of various subject areas with the following list being ideal but all not necessary (plumbing, plastering, bricklaying and tiling)*Be flexible and self-motivated with a dedication to learner achievement and quality.Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
