Job Description

St Bedes and St Josephs Catholic College is looking for a full time Caretaker to join the site team.CaretakerWest Yorkshire, BD9 4BQ37 hours per week, all yearNJC points 5 to 6: £21,575 - £21,968 per annumPlease Note: Applicants must be authorised to work in the UKSt Bedes and St Josephs Catholic College is a co-educational school, founded by the merger of the two Catholic secondary schools in Bradford; the boys school St Bedes Catholic Grammar School and the girls school St Josephs Catholic College.About the Caretaker role:Under the instruction/guidance of the Estates and Facilities Manager your role will be to provide maintenance & security services of the Colleges estates. Oversee the day-to- day control of cleanliness, heating and lighting and maintain a safe environmentfor students, staff and visitors.Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • The promotion and maintenance of a clean, tidy, safe and hygienic college environment which gives a positive image of the college to students, staff, parents and visitors
  • Cleaning interior and exterior college buildings as routine, including cleaning windows and litter-picking.
  • Making areas safe and dealing with emergency situations which arise such as spillages and broken windows
  • Inspection and clearing of drains and gutters
  • The maintenance of buildings and College fixtures and fittings, including the fixture of locks and windows and other minor repairs.
  • The operation of the buildings heating systems and ventilation systems
  • Preparation of surfaces and painting of wall, skirting boards, doors architraves and the like
  • The care of the internal and external lighting system including the changing of bulbs
  • Preparation of surfaces and painting of wall, skirting boards, doors architraves and the like
  • The routine maintenance of the College swimming pool (training given)
  • The security of the premises, including locking and unlocking of the buildings and site
Other duties will include
  • Porterage of deliveries, furniture etc and any other tasks as appropriate
  • Being part of the fire team, including the testing of fire alarm system on a regular basis and reacting where there is a fire alarm by taking appropriate action
  • Safety checks and cleaning of the college minibus/vehicles
  • Clearing snow and gritting areas as required
  • Administration connected with the performance of the duties of this post
  • First aid as required
  • Ensuring that work undertaken is in line with Health and Safety Regulations
You will be expected to be available for emergency call-out both during contractual hours and when the college is closed.St Bedes and St Josephs Catholic College is a two site College - you may be asked to work on either site.About YouOur Site team are a highly committed and skilled group of professionals who form the backbone of our College community.
