Job Description

Bradford.Hybrid + 4 day working week + bonus + healthcare + 15% store discountWere recruiting a Fixed Asset and Lease Accountant to join our Group Finance team, located at our Head Office in Bradford, West Yorkshire. This is a technical role which would suit a qualified Accountant, ideally practice trained, with excellent attentionto detail.Youll be responsible for:

  • Working with stakeholders across the business to understand projects, and assessing costs against Accounting Standards and Capitalisation Guidance to determine the correct treatment.
  • Understanding and interpreting IFRS 16, applying judgement to new and ad-hoc arrangements to determine whether they fall within the scope of IFRS 16 and subsequently how they should be accounted for.
  • Explaining complex fixed asset and lease accounting treatments to non-finance stakeholders so they can understand how their decisions will impact the financials.
  • Leading the month end IFRS 16 accounting, being responsible for maintaining the leases system, completing the balance sheet reconciliations and any other reporting required.
  • Budgeting, forecasting and measuring financial performance.
  • Understanding variances and working with stakeholders to resolve these at source.
  • Supporting the delivery of company-wide transactions and processes as well as supporting the overall strategic objectives of the Finance department.
  • Identifying financial risks and opportunities for departments, allowing the business to respond on a timely basis.
  • Influencing internal and external colleagues to achieve objectives.
  • Consulting with stakeholders across the business to understand requirements and identify opportunities to speed up and simplify processes and procedures.
  • Coaching and managing members of the team, particularly our graduates and apprentices.
Youll have the following skills and experience:
  • Be a qualified Accountant through either CIMA, ACA or ACCA.
  • Have an understanding of IFRS 16 Leases and ideally some relevant experience of applying it.
  • Youll ideally be practice trained or have experience working as an Accountant in a large and complex organisation.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders across the business.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload to meet agreed deadlines.
