Working to contract SLAs and delivering best in class services to our customers.The CST Network Team has the responsibility for ensuring the effective operation and availability of the Network infrastructure for internal and external customer networks, located on site at customer premises, within the Corporate Data Centre and Server rooms as well as NPS office locations. Working within the ITIL process guidelines, the team is responsible for:

  • Incident resolution ensuring that user service is restored as quickly as possible
  • Infrastructure capacity management, monitoring and reporting
  • Reducing the number of Incidents logged though proactive problem management.
  • Implementation of change/project work on the supported infrastructure
  • To deal with support calls and implement technical change/project work for our clients in an efficient and timely manner. To proactively manage the complete IT systems infrastructure including the Network, Web Access, VPNs and firewalls.RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Liaising closely with other team members and Service Desk to ensure that all Incidents are dealt with within contracted SLA timescales
  • Ensuring that all change/project work is delivered on time and to budget
  • Specialising in configuration and support of network infrastructure. Using technical skills to resolve faults with all elements of the supported Infrastructure and provide customers with high level technical consultancy
  • Proactive Problem management to drive down numbers of Incidents raised
  • Produce and present reports and statistics on system capacity and performance
  • Responsible for ensuring the timely restoration of service
  • Responsible for ensuring the proactive monitoring and maintenance of systems, installing patches, upgrades etc.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all backups, and log checking are completed
  • Strategic capacity planning of Network infrastructure
  • Monitor procedures, review and update as necessary. Identify and produce new procedures as appropriate
  • Be able to work 7.5 flexible working hours, 8-6
  • Be part of the “on call” rota on a 24x7 basis and working out of hours when required
  • Get involved in any other business activities as required
  • Work at other Northgate locations and client sites if required
  • QualificationsPERSONAL QUALITIES, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Essential
  • Strong interpersonal/team skills
  • An adaptable attitude with a desire to drive our customer forward in a fast changing IT environment
  • Self-motivation
  • Excellent communication and client facing/customer service skills
  • Relevant experience in a large network environment
  • Understanding of network routing protocols.
  • Previous experience working with Cisco & Palo Alto technologies
  • Full, current driving licence
  • Able to obtain relevant security clearances
  • Desirables
  • Experience with the following network technologies Pulse Secure Traffic Managers GemAlto / Thales Encryptors
  • Network Automation
  • Knowledge of network monitoring and backup tools
  • Awareness of recognised security practices and standards
